Blood Drive

A Blood Drive will be held this Sunday, April 30 from 9:30 until 2 p.m. at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in conjunction with Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top. It will be conducted by the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. You can make an appointment by contacting Khardin@giveblood. org or by logging into your established Digital Donor Account.

RT-C School News

Round Top-Carmine baseball team plays at Snook April 25 at 6:30 p.m. The last game will be onApril 28 when they host Snook at 4:30 p.m. Check www.rtcisd.net for updates.

A professional development day will be held April 28.

Sports physicals by the Texas A&M Mobile Health Clinic will be given on May 4.

RT-C High School girls won first place at the district 29A track meet and will go to Regional.

Congratulations to Angie LeBouef, a member of the Jr. Beta Club, for qualifying for the National Beta Convention. She placed second in Painting, which was her second year in a row, and also placed third in the Spelling Bee.

Hunter Schobel was named the 1A Diamond Pro Pitcher of the Week. Congratulations!

April 14 was a great day to learn, serve, and have fun. An art demonstration was given by Mary Quiros. Officer Castleberry gave a program on texting responsibility. Jr. FFA, FFA, and Senior Beta Club members picked up trash along the roadside. A Kona Ice truck was on site for refreshments. There was a spring dress-up competition.

Carmine VFD

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting is April 27 at 7 p.m. Volunteers and interested persons are always welcome to attend.

The Firemen’s Feast will be held the third Sunday in July.

If you plan a controlled burn, contact the Fayette County Sheriff’s office at (979) 968-5856 to give them the location of the burn, your name, and phone number. In Washington County contact the non-emergency number at 979-277-7373.

Cemetery Decoration Services The Waldeck Cemetery Decoration service will be April 30 at 2 p.m.

Carmine Cemetery will have their Decoration/Memorial Service on May 21 at 2 p.m. in the pavilion at the cemetery.

La Bahia Cemetery Decoration service is scheduled for May 28 at 2 p.m.

Pastor Tinker is in charge of all three services.

Waldeck Church Picnic The Waldeck annual picnic and meal will be held Sunday, May 21 at Waldeck Lutheran Church. There will be a BBQ Pork Steak meal served from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 per plate and a drawing will also be held with the price at $20 per ticket or 3 for $50. Tickets are available at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church office in Carmine and Carmine State Bank.

Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to the family of Virginia Naegeli Loewe, who passed away on April 7. She was a former resident of Carmine. Her funeral service was held April 13 at Canon Funeral Home in Waller with burial in the Loewe Family Cemetery in Sandtown, located north of Carmine.

Meals on Wheels

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave., Carmine, TX 78932.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and is for pick-up only until 11:30 a.m. There are 5 meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

To sign up, come by on any Wednesday morning to fill out the paperwork. For more information, contact Marilyn Wagner at (979) 277-4134.

MLLC News

Confirmation Class meets Wednesday from 4:15-6:45 p.m.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion, observing the Fourth Sunday of Easter is at 10 a.m. The service will be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

The Blood Drive is Sunday from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Recycle Trailer

The Recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.

Accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.

The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.

Visitors Center

Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
