Carmine Christmas Fest The Polar Express Carmine Christmas Fest is this Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Carmine Hall, sponsored by the Carmine Chamber of Commerce.

Over 20 vendors will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Christmas shopping.

Stew and grilled hamburgers will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for either dine-in or to-go. Tickets are $15 at the door.

Ride the Polar Express and visit with Santa from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Enjoy a musical program at 1:30 p.m., which will be presented by RT-C Elementary School students.

Christmas Craft Market A Ledbetter Community Christmas Craft Market is scheduled for this Sunday, Dec. 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ledbetter Community Center. It is located one block off of Highway 290 at 301, W. Labadie St.

Shop for unique, one of a kind Christmas gifts including locally made crocheted items, bows, Christmas tags and ornaments, tote bags, Christmas decorations, wreaths, preserves, jellies, relishes, jewelry, wood crafts, crosses and much more.

Ledbetter Lane of Lights The Ledbetter Christmas Lane of Lights will be open Dec. 1-2; 8-9; 15-16; and 2223.

Enjoy a hayride through a lighted path of Christmas reflections. Santa will be there each night. Tickets are available from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at FM 1291 and Hwy 290.

Round Top-Carmine varsity boys basketball team will play at Waelder on Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. The team will participate in the RT-C Tournament Nov. 30 to Dec. 2.

The varsity girls basketball team is scheduled to play at the North Zulch tournament Nov. 30 to Dec. 2.

Jr. High girls and boys’ basketball teams play at Fayetteville Dec. 4 at 5 p.m.

Carmine Lions Club

The Carmine Lions Club met on Nov. 14 at the Firemen’s Annex. The group enjoyed a turkey and dressing meal prepared by Sandtown Catering.

Guest speaker was Cassie Girard, from the AMEN Food Pantry in La Grange. The club is sponsoring a food drive for AMEN. The non-perishable food may be dropped off in the box at Carmine State Bank through the end of November.

A Christmas party is scheduled for the meeting on Dec. 12.

The club will collect toys for the Fayette County Deputy Santa program during December. A collection box will be placed at Carmine State Bank for anyone who would like to donate new toys for this worthy cause.

The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.

The fourth quarterly meeting of the Carmine Chamber of Commerce Heritage Committee will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. in the museum. The topic of discussion will be the history of the Carmine Hall (Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein) and memories to share. If you have no memories, come to learn what others have to share and bring photos.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion, observing the First Sunday in Advent, is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School Christmas Program rehearsal is Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

Visitors’ Center

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Meals on Wheels

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

A new time schedule is in place for the recycling trailer.

It is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m.

Also, there is now only an unmanned trailer in Ledbetter behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.

Please follow the rules at that location.

Accepted are clean No. 1 and No. 2 plastic (please separate them and take note that No. 5 plastics are not accepted), dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload in Carmine.
