Carmine Chamber Mixer and Awards Night Feb. 24

The Mixer and Awards Night, sponsored by the Carmine Chamber of Commerce, will be held on Friday, Feb. 24 beginning with the social hour from 6-7 p.m. at the Carmine Hall (Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein.) You are welcome to bring snacks and appetizers. The greater Carmine area is invited to attend this annual event in honor of Texas Independence Day.
The awards will be presented at 7 p.m., followed by the meal at 7:15 p.m.
New and current chamber members are welcome, and dues may be paid ($25 per couple) at the event.
There will be door prizes and Texas music by Colton.

Souper Bowl of Caring The Martin Luther Lutheran Church Lutheran Youth Organization collected for the Souper Bowl of Caring on Feb. 11 and 12. Donations will be sent to theAMEN Food Pantry in La Grange. If you couldn’t attend worship, you may mail the contribution to the church at P.O. Box 362, Carmine, TX 78932 by March 5.
RT-C School News
Round Top-Carmine Seniors were recognized at the basketball games on Feb. 3. They included Somerlin Coil with the girls’ team, and boys Brayden Dallmeyer, Kannyn Goehring, Leo Montecillo, Jacob Polasek, and Hunter Schobel.
Varsity Boys basketball team plays at Calvert Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. for their last district game.
Feb. 17 is an early-release day, dismissing at 12:30 p.m. It is the end of the 4th sixweeks grading period. Feb. 20 will be a holiday.
Applications for a place on the RTC-ISD school board election ballot may be picked up at the Elementary Campus in Round Top until Feb. 17 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
A public hearing will be held on Monday, Feb. 27 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Round Top-Carmine Elementary School in Round Top. The purpose of the hearing will be to discuss the District’s Annual Performance Report as required by the Education Code.
Condolences
Sympathy is extended to the family of Vernell Noak who passed away on Jan 27. Her funeral service was held on Feb. 2 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top with burial at the Richter Cemetery. She was a seamstress for many people in Carmine and the surrounding area. She also did babysitting in her home in Carmine.
Meals on Wheels
Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave., Carmine, TX 78932.
Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.
Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and is for pick-up only until 11:30 a.m. There are 5 meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Drill Night is Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. Volunteers and interested persons are always welcome to attend.

Bingo for Seniors
Bingo for Seniors (60 and older plus guests) is held on the second Sunday of the month at the Ledbetter Community Center. Cost is $5 per card, which covers 10 plus games and prizes. Chips, snacks, and drinks are available for a freewill donation. This is a non-profit community event for entertainment. The next date is March 12.
Carmine Lions Club
Carmine Lions Club will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carmine Firemen Department Annex Building. All are welcome to attend.
Young Farmers
The Round Top-Carmine Young Farmers meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month, usually at the Round Top Rifle Hall.
MLLC News
Confirmation class meets Wednesday from 4:15-6:15 p.m.
Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.
Sunday worship with Holy Communion, observing the Transfiguration of Our Lord, is at 10 a.m. The service will be on the mllccarmine.com website.The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Domino Party is Monday at 1 p.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building.
Recycle Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
