Carmine Chamber Lighting Contest Winners Announced

The winners have been announced for the Carmine Chamber of Commerce Lighting contest, which was held on Dec. 20.

In the residence division: First place, Gerald and Sidnie Byrket; Second place, Julio Mendoza and Anna Lopez; and Third place, Gene and Boo Goolsby.

In the business division: First place, Buck Up Auctions and Realty; Second place, Unique Antiques; and Third place, Windmill Lodge.

RT-C School News 

Round Top-Carmine ISD is on break for the Christmas holidays. Classes resume on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025.

High school girl’s and boys’ basketball teams host Dime Box on Friday, Jan. 3. The first game begins at 5 p.m.

Condolences 

Sympathy is extended to the family of Alvis Mueller, who passed away on Dec. 18. The funeral service was held on Dec. 23 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, with burial at the Carmine Cemetery. At Round Top-Carmine High School, he was a teacher, high school principal, and coach. He served his country in the Army National Guard. He was very active in the community and was a member of the Carmine Lions Club, Carmine Volunteer Fire Department, MLLC Men in Mission, Young Farmers, American Legion Quade-Werchan Post 338, and Sandtown Wildlife Association.

Burn Ban 

The burn ban for Fayette County was lifted on Dec. 26.

MLLC News 

AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion, observing the Epiphany of Our Lord, is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

Sunday Worship with Holy Communion is at 10 a.m.

The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Meals on Wheels 

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action is on Wednesdays at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the friendly atmosphere. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. Five meals come in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread for a donation of $10. This makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.
