Carmine Chamber Christmas Fest Sunday, Dec. 1

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 40th annual Christmas Fest at the Carmine Hall this Sunday, Dec. 1 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
A beef stew and a hamburger meal will be served from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
RT-C elementary students will present a musical program at 1:30 p.m.
Attractions include Mr. and Mrs. Claus, a Polar Express train ride, vendors, and a craft contest. For vendor information and booth rental, contact Kasey at (979) 533-2904.
For the craft contest, children in grades Pre-K through 8th are invited to create a craft using a Christmas theme. The only restrictions are no food and it must be no bigger than 14” x 14”. Height doesn’t matter. Put your name, age, and phone number with the craft. Great prizes will be given for various age groups. For more information including when and where to turn them in, call or text (979) 451-1507. Latest date to turn them in is Saturday, Nov. 30 by noon at the Carmine Hall.
The Carmine Lions Club will draw for their prize of a Yeti cooler on wheels loaded with prizes inside.
RT-C School News
Congratulations to the Round Top-Carmine Cubettes for winning the Regional Volleyball Tournament at Brenham High School on Nov. 15 and 16.
The team defeated D’Hanis in three sets on Friday and then beat Richards in four sets on Saturday. They moved on to the state semifinal game on Nov. 19 at Normangee where they were defeated by Neches in four sets.
Neches has advanced to the state final game at Garland. RTC won against Chester on Nov. 12 to advance to Regional.
Varsity boys’ basketball team defeated Waelder on Nov. 12. The team hosts Burton on Dec. 3 at a time to be determined. The varsity girls are scheduled to play at Richards on Dec. 3 at 5 p.m.
Jr. High boys won against Dime Box with two overtimes 37-35 on Nov. 18. Jr. High girls’ team also defeated Dime Box.
RT-C FFA recently competed in the Texas High School welding contest. Carter Marburger, Tre’veon Fisher, and Lane Riley passed and were certified in the Level 1 certification test in Rockdale.

Thanksgiving Break is Nov. 25-29.
The band concert will be held at Festival Hill on Monday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m.
Ledbetter Lane of Lights
The Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring its annual Christmas Lane of Lights, beginning this week Friday and Saturday.
Come enjoy the fun family event for all ages with a hayride through a lighted path of Christmas reflections from 6-8:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per person, cash or check only. Children two years and under are free. There will be live musical entertainment and Santa will be there each night.
Tickets are available near the intersection of FM 1291 and Hwy. 290.
Dates are Nov. 29 and 30, Dec. 6 and 7, Dec. 13 and 14, and Dec. 20 and 21. All proceeds benefit the Ledbetter VFD.

Christmas Craft Market
Ledbetter is having its Christmas Craft Market this Sunday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Ledbetter Community Center, located one block off of Hwy 290 at 301 W Labadie ST.
Handmade crafts and goodies, made by local artists, such as Christmas tags, ornaments, decorations, wreaths, tote bags, jellies, preserves and relishes, handmade jewelry, woodcrafts, crosses, and much more will be available for sale.
Rebekah Group
The Martin Luther Lutheran Church Rebekah Group met on Nov. 14 with eight members present. They were Dianna Gerland, Susan Ray, Joys Baird, Leonita Sanders, Diana Wunderlich, Joann Ullrich, Jocie Braun, and Nancy Eilers.
The Bible study was led by Ray with the theme “Receiving Grace; A study of Ephesians, Session 3: Living as children of the Light.
The business meeting was called to order by President, Susan Ray.
Wunderlich reported for Mission Action that quilting for LWR and Camp For All continues. The total Lutheran World Relief shipment included 144 quilts, 73 school kits, 120 personal care kits; and 37 baby care kits, which are for both 2023 and 2024. The 30 boxes were taken by Tim Sanders and Jason Schroeder to Zionsville on Nov. 2. Thankofferings will be accepted through the end of the year.
For Mission Community, the party at Bec’s Blessing in Giddings was enjoyed by the residents on Nov. 5. Sedalia Ullrich will schedule parties at the beginning of the year for those to be held in 2025.
Joys Baird reported for Mission Growth that the turkey and dressing meal went well. Three hundred ten plates were served.
The congregation will decorate the Christmas tree after worship on Nov. 24. For the Advent meals, Shelby will provide the meal on Dec. 4, Round Top on Dec. 11; and Waldeck on Dec. 18. MLLC church council will provide desserts, drinks, and ice for all three meals.
The Sunday School Christmas program is scheduled for Dec. 8 during the worship service. A meal will be served after the church service.
A service of songs will be held on Dec. 22 and it will take the place of the sermon.
MLLC is gathering nonperishable items during November for the AMEN food pantry.
Joys and Sedalia will take care of the Christmas gifts for nursing home and assisted living facility resident members.
Birthday celebrants were Avalda Pohl and Colette Wunderlich.
Eilers gave the offering meditation for Carol Carmean.
Hostesses were Joys Baird and Joann Ullrich.
The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer and the table prayer was sung.
There will be a time and location change for the December meeting. It will begin at noon in the Fellowship Hall.
Lions Club Food Drive The Carmine Lions Club is collecting non-perishable food for the AMEN Food Pantry in La Grange during the month of November. Donations may be dropped off in the collection box at Carmine State Bank.

Wednesday, Thanksgiving Eve worship service is at Waldeck Lutheran Church at 7 p.m.
AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
Saturday worship with Holy Communion, observing the First Sunday in Advent, is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School Christmas program rehearsal is Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
Sunday Worship with Holy Communion is at 10 a.m.

Visitors’ Center
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot and Museum is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
