Carmine Chamber Annual Texas Mixer Friday
Carmine Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring its annual Texas Mixer on Friday, Feb. 23 at Windmill Ranch Lodge, 1403 W. Hwy. 290, Carmine, beginning at 6 p.m. Barbecue sandwiches will be served and members are asked to bring pot-luck sides. Families are invited. The Chamber will provide drinks but BYOB is welcome. Awards will be given to Business of the Year and Citizen of the Year. RSVP and confirm potluck side by text or call (979) 451-1507.
RT-C School News
The Round Top-Carmine girls’ basketball team placed first in district 29-A. They defeated Prairie Lea to win the bi-district game in Schulenburg on Feb. 12.
A Public Hearing will be held on Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. about Texas Academic Performance Reports. School Board meeting is at 6:30 p.m., following the hearing.

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting is Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.

Carmine 42 Domino Club The Carmine 42 Domino Club met on Feb. 7 at JW’s Steakhouse. After eating a delicious lunch, eight pleasurable games of 42 were played.
The high scoring partners were Donna Mueller and Marlene Waak with a score of 2036, and they played three hands of 84. The second highest scoring partners were Karen Springer and Betty Porter with a score of 1877. Partners Carol Naegeli and Linda Mattocks played one hand of 84. Also enjoying the games were Avalda Pohl and Jeanette Schoenst who played one hand of 84.
Everyone was entertained by the delightful conversations and good times. This 42 group will be ready for more games on March 6.
Rebekah Group of MLLC The Rebekah Group of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building. The ten members present were Dianna Gerland, Diana Wunderlich, Joys Baird, Colette Wunderlich, Joann Ullrich, Leonita Sanders, Sedalia Ullrich, Jennifer Tinker, Susan Ray and Carol Carmean.
The Bible Study was led by Jennifer Tinker with group participation. The second session of the Spring Study, Scripture and Nature: Teachers of Faith, Creatures, was read. The stories of Adam and Eve, Noah’s Ark and Creatures of all kinds were discussed.
The business meeting was called to order by Susan Ray, President.
The Purpose and Mission Statements were recited.
Minutes of the previous meeting, which was held on Jan. 11 were read by Joys Baird, for Nancy Eilers, and approved as read.
The treasurer’s report was given by Dianna Gerland. Stamps were purchased for Carol Carmean, who sends birthday cards to MLLC members 70 and over.
Action Report: Diana Wunderlich reported the monthly quilters would meet on Feb. 12. The collection box for donations to AMEN will be set up in February.
Community Report: Sedalia Ullrich will contact Bec’s Blessing and Argent Court to discuss possible theme parties for our members and other residents this year.
Growth Report: Joys Baird reminded everyone of the Valentine’s Day Bake Sale on Feb. 14 at Round Top Farm and Ranch Supply beginning at 8 a.m. Baked items were needed as well as buyers for the goods. This sale benefits the Rainbow Room in Fayette County.
Colette Wunderlich announced that Thrivent will focus on the youth this year with their $250 donations.
Leonita Sanders reminded everyone to start saving their cancelled stamps again, this time for The Stamps for the Wounded Project. This program has existed since 1942 and is a project for the wounded military members. Stamps are mailed to a location in Virginia and she will check on the details.
Birthday celebrants for February are Leonita Sanders and Ora Lee Levien (95).
Sanders gave the offering meditation, 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, spiritual gifts.
The group prayed the Lord’s Prayer and sang the table prayer.
Hostesses were Dianna Gerland and Joann Ullrich.
MLLC News
The series for this year’s Lent services is entitled “The Lord is My Shepherd: Psalm 23.” Pastor David Tinker and Pastor John David Nedbalek will visit all the Crossroads Shared Lutheran Ministry churches during Lent.
The service will be at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine on Feb. 21 with a meal at 6 p.m. and the service at 7 p.m., both in the Fellowship Hall. Stewardship serves a meal of taco soup and ham veggie soup with trimmings and desserts. A portion of the Passion account from the Gospel of Mark will be read at each Lenten service.
Saturday worship with Holy Communion, observing the Second Sunday in Lent, is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.
Sunday worship with Holy Communion is at 10 a.m.
The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Men in Mission meet Monday at 6 p.m.
Meals on Wheels
Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine. Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.

Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is in Carmine on Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. at the Carmine Hall.
The hours in Warrenton are 8-11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and also 8 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturdays at 600 Huenefeld Ln.
