Calling All Polka Enthusiasts For Donor Appreciation Event
The Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum (PLCTM) is hosting a “Donor Appreciation Event” on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and all polka enthusiasts are invited to join in with plenty of happy music and happy people.
This event is a re-invention of a past annual memorial event, the last one being held in 2019, honoring polka lovers who had passed away in the previous year. Many renovations and upgrades have been made to the museum since March of 2022 and we are excited to showcase the present and future possibilities of the museum. The Donor Appreciation event is in honor of individuals, families, businesses, organizations, grant providers, and public officials who have been instrumental in the museum’s success. It is a celebration for which we invite you to attend.
This event is taking place at The Fairgrounds Pavilion beginning at 11 a.m. with a gathering of long time friends re-uniting after four years of a COVID hiatus and concluding at 4 p.m. after a full program including happy music by The Ennis Czech Boys for your listening enjoyment or dancing pleasure.
The first main attraction is a Mass by Father Jared Cooke at 11:30 a.m.. A buffet lunch catered by Mikeska’s Barbecue of Columbus; serving begins at 12:30 p.m. Music and dancing unveils at 1:30 and the event adjourns at 4 p.m..
The Museum will host an ppen house from 4 to 6 p.m. You will not want to miss this open house as wine from Whistling Duck Winery will be served to attendees and each will be eligible for a gift certificate drawing donated by PLCTM members, John and Kari Cooke, co-owners and operators of the Whistling Duck Winery, located south of Weimar.
A fun portion of the event will be a raffle for a lifetime membership to the Museum, a silent auction for which we are asking attendees to bring items of surprise for this portion of the event. Additionally, museum organizers are requesting attendees to bring non-perishable food item(s) to be gathered and delivered to the local food bank for the holiday season..

The museum has evolved to feature a Po.L.K. of A. Exhibit; the Msg. Father Hybner Center with an exhibit honoring him as well as exhibits of well known bands, donor recognitions, photo displays, videos, instruments and an extensive library of music and records dating back to the early 1900s.
