News 

The annual Valentine’s Concert and Bybee Library Reception is Saturday, Feb. 10. The 2 p.m. concert supports the Festival Institute’s Faith P. and Charles L. Bybee Library and Study Center. Tickets can be purchased online at www.festivalhill.org or by calling the Festival office at (979) 249-3129.

Weekend Events 

Busted Oak Cellar’s 4th Anniversary will be celebrated on Feb. 10. Busted Oaks will have a chocolate and wine pairing event going on now through Feb. 12.

Lightning Ben will take the stage Saturday night at The Stone Cellar, and on Sunday all are welcome to come watch the big game. There will be a Gumbo Cookoff at The Stone Cellar on Saturday, Feb. 24. Visit their website at thestonecellartx.com for more information or to sign-up your team.

Food Drive 

The Fayette County Texas Exes are collecting nonperishable food items to support AMEN Food Pantry Feb. 9-24 at Round Top Brewing & Kitchen and Round Top Real Estate.

Round Top Family Library The library has tons of wonderful opportunities for kids during the week including story time, Junior Master Gardeners, art class, jazz dance class, chess club, and Taekwondo. The monthly Family Game Day is Saturday, Feb. 10 from 2 -4 p.m.

The Library and FYI… presents “Author! Author!” featuring Mike Vance on Sunday, Feb. 18 from 2-4 p.m. Vance is one of the most entertaining historical storytellers in Texas. His eighth book, “Getting Away with Bloody Murder,” is the story of Houston attorney James Brockman, who tried high-profile true crime and murder cases between 1895 and 1910. After the presentation, all are welcome to stay for a reception, visit with Mike, purchase his books, and enjoy refreshments. This is a free event and open to the public.

RTC-ISD 

The students have an early release on Friday, Feb. 16, followed by a holiday on Monday, Feb. 19. Monday, Feb. 26 there will be a public hearing of the Texas Academic Performance Reports at 6 p.m., followed by a school board meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Round Top Rifle Hall 

The Round Top Rifle Hall’s Monday Night Hamburger Socials are back on the schedule. The first, second, and third Mondays of each month, the Hall is open from 5:30-8 p.m. for hamburgers, “The Rooster,” hotdogs, or chilidogs, along with fries or onion rings. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the Round Top Rifle Association.

Church News 

Lent begins on Valentine’s Day this year. The Ash Wednesday service at St. Paul in Shelby will be Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. There will be a 7 p.m. service at Bethlehem Lutheran. The first, third, and fifth Wednesday Lenten Meals and services will be held at Shelby. The second, and fourth Wednesdays will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

The Bethlehem Lutheran Church Bible Study group met Feb. 1, led by Pastor John David Nedbalek. The study covered Psalm 147. The Psalm is about God’s continued work through the weather and His great genius in creating such brilliant, complex systems. Jesus invites us to pay attention to spiritual matters the same way we watch the skies for weather. Joys Baird served as Hostess. The next study will be March 7. All are welcome.
