Building Better Caregivers Series Begins Sept. 5

Caring for a family member who is age 60 or older and find you need help managing your caregiving tasks? Starting Tuesday, Sept. 5, a “Building Better Caregivers” series will be conducted by Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office of Fayette County hosting.

This six-week evidencebased program will be offered every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Randolph Community Recreational Center, Building B, 653 East Pearl, La Grange. Each week the series will cover different topics which will include the following: • Improving caregiver stress • Dealing with difficult emotions

• Addressing difficult care partner behaviors

• Keeping you and your care partner safe and avoiding injury and accidents

• Decision making about treatment, housing and outside help

• Communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals

• Exercising for caregiver and care partner safety, strength, flexibility, and endurance • Maintaining healthy nutrition habits, and navigating legal issues related to caregiving This course and resources are provided at no cost to caregivers of family members age 60 and older.
