Bridges Remain Closed Around Muldoon

    Bridges Remain Closed Around Muldoon

There are several bridges closed in the area. The bridge on Old Smithville north will be closed for some time. They are just starting on that one. Meanwhile the bridge on FM 154 remains closed.

Please just plan on taking more time and rerouting via major roads at this time. If you are traveling the county roads, slow down and share the road. The county roads were designed for a much lower traffic flow.

Out and About

Nancie Blair recently traveled to Katy to have lunch with her daughter Teresa Hollander and grandchildren Zoe and Spencer. They got to do a little shopping while there. Teresa and her friend Christopher Mitchell came out a few days later to celebrate Teresa’s birthday with another lunch and they all got to spend a wonderful afternoon just visiting and discussing what to do with a quilt top that Nancie’s grandmother had made.

Pam Sheffield visited Houston recently and spending time with her two oldest grandkids. She took them to a trampoline park, a movie to see “Twisters,” and treated them to some churros for dessert. The next day they played many games of Yahtzee, had dinner at Cane’s, and then had fun painting pottery at a local shop. The weekend was topped off by having a family dinner with all the kids and grandkids. The grandkids are keeping Pam young and going.

James and Joan Ivy enjoyed a quick visit from Joan’s sister, Jan Anderson of San Antonio along with her daughter Taylor Anderson. They were accompanied by Taylor’s Purdue volleyball teammates Julia Kane from Florida and Kenna Willard of Illinois. The girls got a chance to go and pet some cows and calves.

School Starting

It is that time of year again when the kids will be heading back to school in the next few weeks. Be sure to watch for the traffic pattern changes and for those youngsters who might be standing out by the road to catch the bus. If you see a bus and the lights are flashing red you must stop. Start planning now to add a few extra minutes into your schedule for slow moving buses picking up students.

Lending Library

A reminder that we do have a Little Lending Library over by the fire station. It is a great resource for our community. Borrow a book or leave a book. The selection is always changing, so be sure and drop by to see what titles are available. Church News

The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church enjoyed a fun afternoon at Steve and Joy Cameron’s place for a fun time on a recent Sunday after church. They had hot dogs and assorted goodies that were brought by church members. After eating they enjoyed ziplining, swimming and lots of old-fashioned visiting. It was a fun afternoon with the perfect weather for all the outdoor activities.

The ROPE youth program at SG2C is taking a little break before school starts. They will once again be meeting on Wednesday nights when the school year gets going, but until then be sure and attend the Sunday morning services to keep up to date on any immediate changes and to continue to worship in the strong Christian community that is the SG2C.

Celebrates Birthday

Joy Hostetter celebrated her 84th birthday recently with her family. Joy enjoyed cake and lots of special attention from her great granddaughter Katherine along with the rest of the family.
