Harold Boehnke is very proud of his grandson, Adam Boehnke, who graduated with honors on May 10, from the University of Texas Austin Cockerel School of Engineering with a BS in Environmental Engineering. Adam was also a speaker at the Global Sustainability Leadership Institute (a business sustainability organization at UT) at the minor graduation. This fall he will begin working in Denver, Colorado at Ernst & Young as an analyst for their Climate Change and Sustainability Services division.

Rain

More rain has fallen in the Muldoon area. This is a wonderful start to the summer with the cooler temperatures. Brief thunder storms have been passing through the area making the beginning of summer pleasant. Pastures are greening up and tanks are full. This also means the mosquitos are starting to bite. Be sure to dump any standing water to keep the populations down.

With the rain the temps have been fluctuating between very pleasant to very muggy. The humidity has caused even the eighties seem unbearable. Keep this in mind while working outside. Get out early and take advantage of the cooler temperatures and less humidity. It gets to feeling hot and muggy quick in the mornings.

Out and About

John and Debra Schwartzenburg’s nephew, Thomas Schwartzenburg came out to the ranch to visit on Saturday. His Aunt Nada and Uncle Ted Burns as well as cousin Lauren Schwartzenburg all came over to visit with Thomas. They got to enjoy a Texas style fajita dinner with fresh blackberries from the garden. Thomas currently works for the NSA and lives In Maryland.

Dance Recital

Kathy Chlumsky recently traveled to Austin for her granddaughter’s, Olivia Williams, final dance recital. She has really enjoyed her hip hop class and had a great performance. Kathy also enjoyed spending some time with Olivia’s little brother, Marcus, along with her and Frank’s other grandsons, Hunter and Connor Dong. After her recital we all enjoyed some barbecue with all the families.

Illness in Area

There are still some in our community who are ill and need to be checked on. Stop and check in on your elderly neighbors to make sure they are doing OK. There is a respiratory bug going around that is really rough and takes a long time to recover from. Just because it is summer does not mean everyone is well. Take time to give your neighbors a call and let them know you are out there for them. It is a small community and we need to pull together.

Summer

Summer has begun and that means that the kids in the community are out of school and will be out and about. Keep aware while driving in the area, so to see those kids who might be out on the road driving or even riding their bikes.

Summer also means a change in traffic too. There will be more cars traveling through at different times as people with kids will be running them to various activities and those young drivers will be out working on their driving skills. Be more cautious as you are traveling about.

Church News

The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church has big plans for the last Sunday in June. On June 29, there will be “Testimony Sunday” where personal testimonies will be given and then they will top it off with “Sunday Vitals.”

“Sunday Vitals” will be a pot luck meal to be enjoyed by all. Everyone is invited to come and bring their favorite entrée, side dish and/or dessert to share. This is a great chance to try out that recipe you’ve always wanted to try or to make that dish that is just a little too big for one meal. It is also an opportunity to try some of the neighbors’ cooking too. Come out and enjoy the day with some wonderful God-fearing folks. The day starts off at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and doughnuts and the worship time begins at 10 a.m. Just stop by and enjoy a day with the neighbors and make a few new friends.
