A Blood Drive for the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will be held this Sunday, Nov. 20 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. It will be in the Fellowship Hall.

You can make an appointment by contacting Khardin@giveblood.org or logging into your established Digital Donor Account. If you are able, please consider giving the Gift of Life. It is sponsored by Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top and MLLC.

RT-C School News Round Top-Carmine Cubettes volleyball team defeated Leverett’s Chapel at Iola for the Area round of the playoffs on Nov. 3 in 3 sets. They were to have played North Zulch on Nov. 8 in the Regional Quarter Finals of the playoffs. Check the sports section for updates.

The following are the Round Top-Carmine FFA District LDE results: Greenhand Skills-2nd; Greenhand Creed-4th; Public Relations-5th; Job Interview-7th; Senior Skills-7th; Senior Quiz-7th; Agricultural Advocacy- 8th; Senior Creed-9th; Spanish Creed-9th; Radio Broadcast-9th; and Greenhand Quiz-11th.

Fall Break and Thanksgiving holidays are Nov. 21-25.

Carmine VFD Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting night will be cancelled for November due to Thanksgiving Day.

Having changed to Central Standard time, be sure to check your smoke detector batteries.

Carmine Lions Club The Carmine Lions Club met Nov. 8 at The Carmine VFD Annex Building. Donna made a roast and potatoes for the meal. The District Governor, David Sahm, was the guest speaker.

It was noted that attendance has been up and we are very happy to see that. The Food Drive for AMEN Food Pantry in La Grange is this month. Donations can be brought to the collection box at Carmine State Bank. Deliveries will be made to the pantry as needed.

Fund Raiser Raffle tickets are in the process of being sold. The drawing will be at the Christmas Fest at Carmine Hall on Dec. 4. Please let Ricky know if you need extra tickets or need help selling the ones you have.

It was noted that long time Lions member J. C. Pohl died last month. He was a member of the Carmine Lions Club for fifty years. We appreciate his many years of service to the Lions Club and to the entire community.

Condolences Sympathy is extended to the family of Dellora Fuchs Manske who passed away on Oct. 25. She was 100. Her funeral service was at Messiah Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City, OK on Oct. 28. Her brother is Otto L. Fuchs, Jr. and sister-in-law is Joyce Fuchs. She was born near Carmine and was a former member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine.

Sympathy is also extended to the family of Edwin W. Arndt who passed away Oct. 27 in Houston at the age of 84. He graduated from Round Top-Carmine High School where he will be remembered as an excellent basketball player. He was preceded in death by 9 siblings and is survived by 2 sisters, one who is 101. His graveside service was Nov. 12 at the Carmine Cemetery. Carmine 42 Domino Club The Carmine 42 Domino Club met on Wed., Nov. 2 at JW’s Steakhouse. After eating a delicious lunch with a complementary dessert, 8 games of 42 were played.

The high scoring partners were Donna Mueller and Jeanette Schoenst with a score of 2084, and they played 2 hands of 84. The second highest scoring partners were Jo Nell Glaesmann and LaVerne Albers with a score of 1922, and they also played 2 hands of 84. Linda Mattocks and Marlene Waak had 5 hands of 84. Other players were Edith Flinn and Myrt Meinkowsky.

Everyone enjoyed the interesting games and the friendly conversations. These players look forward to the next game day on Dec. 7 at 11 a.m. at JW’s Steakhouse.

MLLC News Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m. Sunday School meets Sunday at 8:30 a.m. for their Christmas Program practice.

Worship with Holy Communion observing Christ the King Sunday is at 10 a.m. The service will be on the mllccarmine. com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

The Blood Drive is Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Domino Party is Monday at 1 p.m.

Recycling Trailer The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.

Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans.

The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.

Visitors’ Center Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Birthdays Birthday wishes are extended to Quinly Scheffer-Nov. 17; Seth Kelley, Avalda Pohl, and Kathy Warburton-18; Susie Markwardt-10; and Jack Littlejohn and Darrel Neutzler-21.
