RT-C School News
Congratulations to Kinsley Bage, who was crowned homecoming queen at Round Top-Carmine High School on Jan. 10. Evan Blazek was named the basketball beau. Before homecoming, the high school boys won the basketball game against the RT-C alumni team. Buckholts girls and boys had forfeited.
High school boys’ basketball team hosts Calvert on Jan. 21 at 5:30 p.m. A Jan. 24 game has not been finalized.
Jr. High girls and boys play at North Zulch on Jan. 23 at 5 p.m.
Carmine Cemetery Assoc.
The Carmine Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting this Sunday, Jan. 26 in the Mission and Ministry Building of Martin Luther Lutheran Church on Augsburg Ave.
It begins after worship around 11:15 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Bingo in Carmine
Bingo in Carmine will be held this Friday, Jan. 24 at the Carmine Hall, located at 300 N. Hauptstrasse. Doors open at 4 p.m. and games begin at 6 p.m. There will be twelve regular games and two coverall games.
Food and drinks will be available.
Carmine VFD
The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting is Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. at the fire station.
Remember to check your smoke detector batteries.
Fried Chicken Fundraiser The Carmine Hall is sponsoring a fried chicken meal on Sunday, Feb. 16 with carry-out only from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. It includes a half chicken with trimmings.
Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at Carmine State Bank or by calling (214) 7321014.
Desserts will be available for a donation to support the scholarship fund.
Women of the ELCA
The Women of the ELCA of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met on Jan. 9. Attending were Leonita Sanders, Sedalia Ullrich, Joys Baird, Diana Wunderlich, Joann Ullrich, Nancy Eilers, and Dianna Gerland.
Sanders opened with a prayer on “Being Made New.”
An update on all of the projects during 2024 was given.
A party was held at Silversage Assisted Living on Aug. 5 and Bec’s Blessing in Giddings on Nov. 5. A total of $107 was sent to Upbring for its Girl’s Home in Canyon Lake. The annual salad supper was held on June 5. Thankoffering service and meal were in November.
New yearbooks were published with the funeral serving groups changing from ten to six groups. Quilting continues on the second Monday, when quilts are made for Lutheran World Relief, Camp For All, and the Lutherhill Gala.AMEN offerings were collected during February, May, August, and November. Other kits made for LWR were Baby Care, School, and Personal Care.
The group decided to have MLLC WELCA move from the Brazos Cluster to the Western Cluster. Bishop Rinehart, with the synod office, approved the change. The Spring Gathering will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville on April 5.
Cancelled postage stamps are being collected for Stamps for the Wounded. Leave one fourth inch border around the stamp. Three-hundred dollars was given to the LYO for the Super Bowl of Caring.
It was decided to give $1,000 to Lutherhill Ministries for the Capital Campaign Fund in building the new dining hall.
WELCA is thankful to those persons who use their Thrivent Action cards for various projects.

Beginning in February, Martin Luther Lutheran Church Saturday night services will be cancelled until further notice.
Confirmation class meets Wednesday from 4:15 to 6:45 p.m.
AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
Saturday worship with Holy Communion, observing the Third Sunday after Epiphany, is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m. The Blood Drive is Sunday from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
Sunday Worship with Holy Communion is at 10 a.m. Church Council members will be installed.
The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Meals on Wheels
Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action is on Wednesdays at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.
Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the friendly atmosphere. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.
Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. Five meals come in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread for a donation of $10. This makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.
