Debra and John Schwartzenburg hosted a birthday party for little Ira James Ivy who turned three. Ira came out from Austin with his mom, Jenny Claire and dad, Andy Ivy. Joining in the celebration were Antonette Syler-Joplin; Ira and Judy Syler; Uncle Bobby Ivy and coming in from out of town were Julia Speed of Houston; Great Aunt Judy Jordan of LeVernia; Great Aunt Jan Anderson of San Antonio; along with grandparents, James and I. Victoria Guerrero and daughters Juliana and Jocelyn of Houston were also there. It was a fun afternoon of cake and opening presents.

Kathy and Frank Chlumsky slipped into Austin to help celebrate their youngest daughter’s birthday. It was perfect weather and there was some awesome cake. It was a bonus getting to visit with the grandkids while celebrating.

An invitation to Grandparent’s Day prompted a recent trip to north Texas for Ron and Pam Knotts. Their six-yearold grandson, Troy Knotts is enjoying kindergarten at Liberty Christian School in Argyle and he has been anxious to show off his school. The day started early with registration and greetings from the principle. Instruction sheets for the tour were handed out with mystery clues designed to send the kids and grandparents to each of the study areas of the school. It was exciting to meet the teachers and see the classrooms for art, Spanish and music as well as the gym and library. What a treat to get behind the scenes. A quick lunch at Cane’s Chicken set up the rest of the day for a trip to the Butterfly House at Texas Discovery Gardens in Dallas. It was a great learning experience and a fun way to finish Grandparent’s Day.

A group of ladies including Nancie Blair, Kim Bonewald, Marian Tajchman and myself took off on Monday for a quilting adventure on the Bluebonnet Shop Hop. The shop hopping began with hitting shops in San Antonio, Bandera and Camp Wood. The Camp Wood shop was part of the All Texas Shop Hop and the drive out to it was quite scenic as we wound around some mountainous type roadways. After that stop we headed to Round Rock to spend the night and begin the second leg of our adventure. Pam Knotts joined us bright and early at Austin Sewing Machines and we continued on to another shop in Austin, then to Buda, Wimberly and rounding out the adventure with a stop at Holly Dee’s Quilt Shop in Luling. It was a great adventure and loads of fun with laughter along the way.

Celebrates Anniversary

Nancie and Billy Blair celebrated their wedding anniversary with a trip to Marble Falls. They enjoyed touring Longhorn Caverns, a lovely dinner in downtown Marble Falls. The next day they got the chance to enjoy the wonderful art exhibit called “Beloved” there in Marble Falls and found it very powerful and moving. Also, while in Marble Falls they did go on recommendations of many to the Bluebonnet Café and enjoy some pie. It was a great getaway for the couple.

Rain

The big news of the week is that Muldoon has received some rain and more is predicted at the time of this writing. On Wednesday evening a big weather system moved in with some lighting and rain. Thursday morning saw more light showers and mud puddles beginning to fill. This is good news for those who are raising cattle and also for the wildflowers which already have started to show growth with just a little rain. This is a much-needed weather system and the rain is welcomed to fill the stock tanks and bring on the spring grass growth.

Church News

The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is alive and very active this spring with the Spring Turkey and Clay Shoot happening on April 12. This is a fundraising event to help the youth and other activities of the church. The shoot will be held at the Swenson Ranch. Dust off that old shotgun and see how well you can really shoot. All in all, it will be fun, great fellowship, and a chance to win some belt buckles along with other prizes. If you enter you will be entered into a chance to win a door prize. The event is open to men, women and youth. The ladies of the church and maybe a few men will have some goodies to eat and drinks available to keep everyone fueled up and having fun.

Good Friday and Easter The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church have been planning for a big Easter time service schedule. Beginning with Good Friday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m., they will be hosting a movie night. The featured movie will be “The Forge” a movie from the creators of “The War Room.” To go along with the movie, they will be serving hot dogs, chips and a little dessert to go along with the meal. Everyone is encouraged to come and begin the Easter weekend. A prayer vigil will follow the movie and set the mood for the real reason for the Easter holiday.

On Saturday, April 19 SG2C will hold a prayer vigil at the church. With this there is a chance to reflect on the real reason for the Easter season. It is a good time for reflection and reconciliation.

The weekend will climax with the Easter Sunrise service. This greeting of the sun on Easter morning is a great time to celebrate the resurrection and the hope it brings. Later there will be an Easter Egg Hunt for those of all ages who wish to have some fun. Make your plans now to attend one or more of the activities at The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church.
