Bingo for Seniors will be held on Sunday, Oct. 16 at the Ledbetter Community Center from 2-4 p.m.

Harvest Festival Martin Luther Lutheran Church is sponsoring the 2022 Harvest Festival this Sunday, Oct. 16 at the Carmine Hall.

A worship service featuring Polka style worship music will be led by the Praise Team at 9:30 a.m. in the upper part of the hall. Confirmation classes from years ending in 2 and 7 will be recognized. A chicken fried pork steak dinner will be served. Tickets are $15 per plate. There will also be a drawing with 20 items. Those tickets are $20 each or 3 for $50. Call the office Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at (979) 278-3388 for more information. The regular Saturday evening church service at 6 p.m. will be held at the church.

RT-C School News Round Top-Carmine FFA members Kannyn Goehring, Mallory Krause, Brayden Dallmeyer, and Jenna Hardaway placed 8th high overall team in Livestock Judging at the Waller County Fair. There were 100 teams competing. Kannyn Goehring placed as a Top 10 individual out of 316 competitors. Other groups from RT-C also participated. FFA monthly meeting was held Oct. 6. The varsity girls cross country team was the top 1A team and 4th place team overall at the Shiner Invitational Meet on Oct. 1. Receiving medals were Maggie Salinas-9th place and Mallory Krause-20th place. The other competitors were Kennedy Flinn-30th, Jill Eilers-32nd; Avery Nelius-33rd; Daylin Pitts-35th; Tess Eilers-40th; and Bayley Pitts-43rd.

Jr. High and High School JV, and varsity teams host Fayetteville Oct. 11 at 5 p.m. Varsity hosts Burton Oct.14 at 4:30 p.m.

Jr. High and High School varsity girls and boys will participate in the District Cross Country Meet on Oct. 12 at Festival Hill in Round Top.

Carmine VFD Carmine Volunteer Fire De-partment drill night is Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.

The burn ban has been reinstated for Fayette County. The flag is up at the fire station and signs are on the Fayette County Line signs.

Fall Festival RT-C Parents’ Club is sponsoring the Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the RT-C Elementary School from 5-8 p.m. They are taking pre-orders for Fresh fajita plates for $15 and Hot dogs for $3. Desserts will be available for a donation. Enjoy a kids costume parade, kids carnival, and high school entertainment. There will also be a drawing and silent auction. Everyone is welcome.

All proceeds benefit students and staff of RT-C ISD.

Dumpster Service The City of Carmine will have a dumpster for Carmine residents Nov. 12 and 13 from 8-4 p.m. at Carmine City Hall, 260 Luther Lane. Truck loads will be charged $15 and trailer loads will be $25. Accepted are larger household items. Prohibited items include tires, household hazardous waste such as paint, oil, chemicals, and pesticides, refrigerators, and E-waste such as computers, monitors, and household electronic items with internal components like mercury and other heavy metals. You must bring proof of residency. For more information call City Hall at (979) 278-3273.

Personals Wade and I, along with Daryl and Susan Ray, had the pleasure of attending the meal and dance at the Hermann Sons Lodge 6 in Brenham as guests of Will and Sheryl Blakemore.

MLLC News Confirmation class meets Wednesday from 4:15-6:15 p.m. Bible Study follows from 7-8:15 p.m.

Rebekah Group meets Thursday at 2 p.m. Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m. Harvest Festival Worship with Holy Communion observing the Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost is at 9:30 a.m. at the Carmine Hall. The service is also on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor. Quilting for Lutheran World Relief is Oct. 17 at 9 a.m. Domino Party is Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.

Recycling Trailer The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m. Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean #1 and #2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans. The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.

Visitors’ Center Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
