A Bell of a Story in Hostyn
By this time next year the parishioners of Holy Rosary Parish in Hostyn should have a new church. Construction has continued on schedule for the new structure, which is replacing the previous church which was destroyed by a gas explosion on June 9, 2022. The bells in the tower at the church survived that explosion and were sent off to be refurbished and will be placed in the tower of the new church. Those bells were made in 1912 in St. Louis for the fourth Hostyn Church, but actually contain metal from the damaged bells of the third Hostyn church, which burned down in 1907. Shown above is one of the new refurbished bells, left, when it arrived back in Hostyn earlier this year. To the right are the bells as they looked when they were salvaged from the previous church.
