Bartosh Says Goodbye As Ellinger News Column Correspondent

This will be my last article for the Ellinger News. I am retiring as the Ellinger correspondent for The Fayette County Record.

I have enjoyed holding this position and collecting news for our community, however I feel it is time to let someone else take over. A huge thank you to all that emailed me your organization’s news. I want to give thanks for this time we had together. Additionally I give thanks for this joyful holiday when we can celebrate our Savior and his love for us. Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.

Ellinger VFD

The Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department will hold its regular monthly meeting on Jan. 4 at 7:30 p.m. The Ellinger VFD has recruited some new firemen. Joining the VFD are Drayton Divin, Vance Galindo, Seth Kulhanek, Hunter Stoelstra, and Martin Stoelstra. Drill night is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 18.

SLM Services

Christmas Eve Services for the Shared Lutheran Ministry have been announced. Worship with Pastor Jen will be in Warrenton at 5 p.m. and at St. John Ellinger at 7 p.m. Services led by Pastor Jill will be in Fayetteville at 6 p.m. and in Rutersville at 8 p.m.

The Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County will be having a joint worship on Christmas Day at 8:30 a.m. at St. John’s Warrenton and on Jan. 1 at 10 a.m. at St. John Rutersville.

SLM Annual Meetings

St. John Lutheran Church of Ellinger will be holding its annual Congregational Meeting following the 8 a.m. worship on Sunday, Jan. 8. St. Paul Lutheran in Fayetteville will also have their annual meeting on that date. St. John in Rutersville will have their annual meeting on Sunday, Jan. 15 following the 10 a.m. worship.

Fayetteville Brethren Church

Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Face book page.

Fayetteville Brethren Church will have a Christmas Eve Candlelight service will be on Saturday, Dec. 24 at 4 p.m. No service will be held at 10 a.m. Holy Communion will be observed.

Ellinger C of C

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting on Sunday, Jan. 15 at the Ellinger Community Center. Additionally a Chicken Noodle Soup Lunch and Bake Sale has been scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 29.

Christmas Lights

If one of your favorite Christmas traditions is driving around neighborhoods to view the decorations and light exhibits, don’t forget to come out to Ellinger. The family and I were driving around last week and there are some very nicely decorated yards in our community.
