TheChuckwagonCooking Class with Chef Grady Spears is set for Aug. 24. The Spazmatics

The Spazmatics are coming to the Round Top Dance Hall on Thursday, Oct. 19. Tickets are now available via the Stone Cellar’s website.

Karaoke

Busted Oak Cellars has Karaoke on Friday, Aug. 4, from 6-9 p.m., and Les Cousins Sunday, Aug. 6, from 2-5 p.m. Trivia Night is Thursday, Aug. 10, from 6-8 p.m.

Live Music

Round Top Brewery and Stone Cellar also has live music each Friday thru Sunday.

Sons of Hermann

There was 100% officer attendance and a great turn out for the Hermann Sons Life summer meeting at the American Legon Hall near Round Top. Linda Mattocks, President, called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Linda gave her agent’s report. IRA annuities are paying 4% with a low guarantee of 2%. Workdays days will be in Comfort, Texas on Sept. 29 and 30.

There was a discussion on how to help people in need. Are donations really needed and appreciated? This will be continued at the next meeting with the membership giving thoughts about where the most impact can be made. Maybe a fundraiser could supply more funds. The Join Hands Project in October will benefit the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department.

The Christmas Party is scheduled for Dec. 10. Linda will check for a guest from the home office. More discussion was tabled for the August meeting.

Happy Birthday was sung for La Verne Albers who celebrated July 31 and Floyd Braun who turned 90 on July 7. Attendance prizes went to Earl Fenske, Ted Stardig, Floyd Braun, La Verne Albers and Ray Ullrich. Fellowship and a hot dog supper with all the trimmings, potato salads, sauerkraut, and desserts of every kind was enjoyed.

The next meeting will be held Aug. 24.

Round Top Rifle Hall

Monday Night Hamburger Social takes place the first, second and third Mondays each month starting at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the RTRA.

Town of Round Top

The Round Top Town Council meetings are held the second Monday of the month at the Town Hall located at 100 Main Street unless otherwise posted. Citizens are encouraged and welcome to attend. Agendas are posted on the website at www.townofroundtop. org at least seventytwo hours prior to the meeting time.

Round Top Family Library Here’s a look at the free programs for the month of July: Yoga in the library Mondays at 5 p.m. and Wednesdays at 9 a.m., Chess Club meets Wednesdays at 1 p.m., and Pre-School story time is Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m. If you are interested in helping provide a story and short activity for story time, please contact Sheila Bain at sheilabain@ hotmail.com. The next Family Game Day will be Saturday, Aug. 12.

Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 2:30 p.m. the library is presenting a Medicare Education Class with Tammy Rush, a senior benefits consultant. Rush will help attendees better understand your options as you become eligible for Medicare benefits. She will cover information from the official Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services handbooks. This is a free one-hour class at the library.

FYI… presents “Don’t Be A Victim.” Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy Hardy Hay will present a class on Thursday, Aug. 10 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Round Top Family Library. Hardy is a Master Peace Officer, retired HPD Homicide detective, and served in the U.S. Army.

Saturday, Aug. 26 from 1-3 p.m. Bren Hardt, a retired teacher and CNVC certified facilitator will present a workshop based on her book which has sold over three-million copies: Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life”. Round Top – Carmine ISD Elementary school supply lists are online at the school’s website. Developmental screening for preschool-age children is Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Elementary grades will have Meet the Teacher Aug. 10 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The annual Back to School Welcome Walk will be Aug. 14 in the High School Cafeteria. Incoming seventh-graders and new students meet from 5-6 p.m. Returning eight through twelfth graders have schedule pickup and meet-theteacher from 5:30-6 p.m.

The first day of school is Wednesday,Aug. 16, followed by a 12:30 p.m. early release on Aug. 25. School pictures are scheduled for Aug. 24.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church holds services with Pastor John David Nedbalek Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school is the first Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Ruth Circle is the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Sewing Circle is the second Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. Pastor John David leads adult bible study the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. All are welcome.

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby holds worship service at 8 a.m., followed by fellowship, coffee and Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. Game Day is held the first Wednesday of each month from 2 to 4 p.m. Quilting meets the third Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m.

The upcoming Crossroads Shared Lutheran Ministry Meeting is Saturday, Aug. 12 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in Waldeck.

St. Cecilia’s Round Top Episcopal Church holds services with Father Bill Miller Sundays at 8:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. in the historic Haw Creek Chapel in Henkel Square.
