Artists Compete For Big Prizes At Gorman Gallery Show Opening This Weekend
ARTS is proud to present the International Road Trips 2023 Competition, opening Saturday, July 15 at 5 p.m. at the ARTS Gorman Gallery (1201 S. Kessler Ave., Schulenburg).
A panel of jurors whittled down an international selection of artwork to only 50 pieces. At the wine and cheese reception, over $5,000 in cash and merchandise awards will be presented. The show runs from July 15 through Sept. 16 with original paintings, sculptures and photographs.
ARTS International Road Trips invites artists to draw upon their experiences and imagination to keep their work fresh – whether through physical road trips or road trips of the imagination, the artists have met the challenge. Paintings that play with light, nature and texture, sculptures evoking time and renewal, and photography that explodes in colors make up the most diverse show at ARTS Gorman Gallery yet.
The exciting assortment of art will be judged by James Busby. Mr. Busby taught at Houston Baptist University for 46 years and was the Chair of the Art Department when he retired in 2019. An accomplished artist himself, Busby paints, sculpts, and makes jewelry. His years of experience as a teacher and his varied skill set make him an ideal judge for such a varied show.
