    Art Walk, Lions Car Show Coming Up

The following are additional updates to some of the City’s activities from our Mayor:

• Additional streets will be paved this year.

• This year’s ArtWalk, a juried art show, is on May 4 and 5. This show will present the largest number of artists in its history. Once more, thanks to great volunteers.

• On March 30 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. the Fayetteville Lions Club Classic Car Show will return this year. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Contact Gary Hillock at glhillock@att.net or (281) 660-0043.

FISD 

The kids at FISD are out for spring break next week, March 11-15. Superintendent Dr. Jeff Harvey spoke about the new fence surrounding the school. “It’s necessary to protect our kids. We received a grant to cover the expenses so our budget isn’t affected. The fence is equipped with an electronic gate and Its both secure and appealing,” said Harvey. The fence is comprised of wrought iron in the front and chain link in the back.

ARTS 

Kids in grades one through 12 can enjoy an art-filled summer by signing up for summer camp at ARTS. Registration opens March 8. Young artists can learn and play in Fayetteville, La Grange, Schulenburg or Columbus. These weeklong day camps, held Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., are fee based at $100 per camp.

Picking Park

A group of bluegrass enthusiasts are pickin’ again this Saturday in the square. All levels of pickers are welcome to continue the tradition of live, acoustic bluegrass jamming. Play begins between 2-3 p.m.

Food Pantry 

The Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry will be at St. John on Wednesday, March 13 from 10 to 11 a.m. This will no longer be a drive-thru food distribution. Clients will walk up to the entrance and are asked to bring bags or carts for pickup.

Church News 

St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m.

Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 to 9:45 a.m.

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 6 p.m., and Sunday’s at 10 a.m.

St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s at 8 a.m.
