Another Successful Oktoberfest in Warda

Faith Lutheran High School’s Annual Oktoberfest was held on Saturday. The winners of Best German Costumes were Sunny Woelfel and Pastor Obersat. (pictured here.) Knox Scholarship Fund The Amanda Knox Memorial Scholarship Fund is selling tickets for a pulled pork taco dinner on Monday, Nov. 13. The meal includes BBQ pulled pork, tortillas, beans and coleslaw. Tickets are $15, presale only. Baked goods will be available for a free-will donation. Plates can be picked up at the Warda picnic grounds from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Only 200 tickets are available. You can contact the church office for tickets at (979) 242-3333. The scholarship is awarded annually to provide full tuition to Faith Lutheran High School to an incoming freshman.

Bluff Creek Ranch

Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda has bike riding trails that are open every day. Nov. 4-5 they will be hosting the Texas A&M Invitational Race; a South-Central Collegiate Cycling Conference Race. Nov. 18-19 will be The Wild Hare Trail Race. Visit tejastrails. com/wild for more information on this race.

Voting

Voting will be held at the Holy Cross Fellowship Hall on Tuesday Nov. 7 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Holy Cross Game Day The next monthly Game Day hosted by Holy Cross in Warda will be held on Thursday, Nov. 9 from noon-2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Lunch will be served and games of dominoes, cards, scrabble etc. are available. Everyone is invited to attend; if you have any questions you can contact Lisa at (979) 218-6000.

FLHS Pie Sale

Faith Lutheran High School will have their annual pie sale on Sunday, Nov. 19. All pies are a generous 10” size and are deep-dish. Pecan pies are $30 each and Pumpkin pies are $25 each. Pick up will be at Holy Cross, St. Paul Serbin, Immanuel in Giddings and Mt. Calvary in La Grange. Place your pie order by calling Faith at (979) 242-2889. Deadline to order is Nov. 13.

Thanksgiving at Tejas

Tejas Camp and Retreat Center is hosting Thanksgiving at Tejas on Nov. 24-26. Guests can book a room and enjoy activities such as night zip lining, axe throwing, crate stacking, rock wall climbing, kid zone, bazooka ball, crafts, dinner, tree lighting and fireworks. Christmas at Tejas

Christmas at Tejas will be Dec. 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22 and will be an overnight stay with the wonderful Christmas tradition of family activities including bounce houses, zip lines, fireworks and more. They are no longer offering evening dates/tickets. All Christmas events are overnight stays and include supper and breakfast.

Sewing Circle

The Sewing Circle in Warda meets every Thursday from 9 a.m.- noon in the old Parish Hall of Holy Cross Church (entrance is behind the church). You do not have to be a church member to join this fun group of ladies and no experience is necessary. They cut, sew, tie quilts and enjoy some good food and fellowship. Recycle Trailer

The recycle trailer is at the Warda storage facility. The local Trail Life Group collects aluminum cans at the Holy Cross picnic grounds. There is a wire bin at the picnic grounds for you to put your cans in. The boys greatly appreciate your support and the money they collect goes towards projects they participate in.

Kamryn and Myles Canada were Baptized at Holy Cross on Sunday Oct. 29. Parents are Kevin and Natalie (Varner) Canada.

Holy Cross Services

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Faith Lutheran High School

Everyone is invited to join the weekly Chapel Worship Services Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

Everyone is invited to join the 7th Annual Thanksgiving Celebration on Thursday, Nov. 16 beginning at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Thomas Obersat will be leading the worship. There will be fellowship and a potluck Thanksgiving feast lunch immediately following chapel. The high school will be hosting a game night for 7th and 8th grade students on Friday, Nov. 10 from 6-9 p.m. at Faith Lutheran High School. There will be lots of food, fun and fellowship.

The archery team at FLHS has been preparing for competitions scheduled for November through January. Basketball practice has begun and the girls are excited to bring a new cheerleading program to FLHS.
