Annual Small School, Big Hearts Fundraiser Slated February 3

Mark your calendars for Saturday, Feb. 3 for the annual “Small School, Big Hearts” fundraiser that will take place at the Round Top Rifle Hall. Tickets for the chicken and sausage plates are now available at local school offices, Round Top Mercantile, Round Top and Carmine banks, and online at rtceducationfoundation. org. Sponsorship opportunities are available at multiple levels and include meal tickets, drink tickets, as well as social media and event acknowledgements.
Weekend Events
There are some great options for live music this weekend in Round Top. Trey Yenger will be at Busted Oak Cellars on Saturday, and Les Cousins will be there Sunday. Over at The Stone Cellar, catch the Risky Liver Band on Saturday night.
Festival Hill
Festival Hill has a real treat this weekend: Asleep at the Wheel will be performing on Saturday in the Festival Concert Hall. Tickets are available at festivalhill.org.
Coming up in the next few weeks at Festival Hill, we’ve got Volunteer Service Day on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., and the annual Valentine’s Concert and Bybee Library Reception on Saturday, Feb. 10. This is a ticketed event and fundraiser. More information can be found online.

Round Top Family Library
RTFL and FYI, along with The James Dick Foundation at Festival Hill presents “An Evening with James Dick and Larry Birkelbach,” Thursday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Festival Hill Concert Hall. This special evening, James Dick and Larry Birkelbach will share their experiences of building the magnificent Concert Hall at Festival Hill. James Dick is the Founder and Director of Festival Hill, and Larry Birkelbach is the wood craftsman who began his career in 1975 and became the foreman of the many craftsmen who have worked on the Hall. Come and hear about this amazing 50-year journey and view his beautiful woodworking. A question-and-answer session will follow. This is a free event and open to the public.
The library’s first annual Health Fair is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 27 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This health fair will offer presentations on holistic health practices and drug-free natural healing techniques. Classes and demonstrations will be offered on vertical gardening, lymphatic massage, herbal tinctures, a demo on making raw sauerkraut and yogurt, acupuncture, yoga, live bee keeping, and other healthy topics.
Chamber of Commerce
The Chamber of Commerce Member Luncheon will be Wednesday, Jan. 31 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Duo Modern: The Restaurant at Market Hill. Join the Chamber as they plan out 2024 and get suggestions from members on how they can better serve the community. Tickets may be purchased at www.exploreroundtop. com.
RTC-ISD
The Round Top-Carmine ISD Elementary School is collecting photos of students enjoying life. If you have a photo of your student with their pet, family, or friend that you’d like to share in the yearbook, email them to nbage@rtcist. net.
Round Top Rifle Hall
The Round Top Rifle Hall’s Monday Night Hamburger Socials are back on the schedule. The first, second, and third Mondays of each month, the Hall is open from 5:30-8 p.m. for hamburgers, “The Rooster,” hotdogs, or chilidogs, along with fries or onion rings. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the Round Top Rifle Association.
Winedale
On Tuesday, Jan. 30 at noon, join a Zoom call for the Winedale Online Talk: “18 Minutes through 187 Years; The Battle of San Jacinto and its National Aftermath.” Join San Jacinto Battleground educator, Bailey Brantlye, as she provides an overview of the battle of San Jacinto. She will recount how against numeric odds, morale challenges, and varying amounts of military experience amongst its soldiers, the Texan army was able to overcome the Mexican army in the 18-minute Battle of San Jacinto and change the course of history.
