Round Top Rifle Hall’s 13th Annual Oktobierfest is Saturday, Oct. 26. Gates open at 11 a.m., followed by the Ceremonial Keg Tapping at 12 p.m. Enjoy Bratwursts, Kassler-style pork chops, schnitzels, German potatoes, sauerkraut and sides. Music until 6 p.m. featuring the Round Top Brass Band, Auf Geht’s and Enzian Baum. Entry is free. Visit roundtoprifle. com for more information on these or any future events.

The Monday Night Hamburger Social takes place the first, second, and third Monday of each month beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Fall Antiques & Design Show The Fall Antiques and Design Show is now open in a few locations in Round Top. This list includes a few but check your favorite vendor’s website or social media page before you head out just in case. Round Top-Carmine ISD 

Monday, Oct. 14 is a student holiday. The RT-C Parents Club is hosting a Fall Festival Saturday, Oct. 19. Activities include kids costume parade and contest, free carnival activities, raffle, cake walk, gourmet hamburger plate with Eckermann beef, chili dogs and desserts. Red Ribbon Week is Oct. 25 – 31.

Round Top Family Library 

The library has tons of events held throughout the week for all ages including sewing class, STEM classes, yoga, Preschool story time, Junior Master Gardener, Chess class, Taekwondo, dance and more. These classes are free but do require advance registration.

“Author! Author!” presents a Book Fair this Sunday, Oct. 6 from 1-4 p.m. Come and chat with authors and purchase a few books. The authors in attendance will include Babette Hale, Brian Porter, Marie Watts, David Collins, Mike Vance, James Kearney, and Sally Reynolds! This event is free and open to the public.

Tuesday, Oct. 8 RTFL is hosting anAdult Education Information Session sponsored by the Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. They will be speaking about their Fayette County classes, including the morning ESL class they would like to offer in Round Top. Hermann Sons Life 

The Herman Sons Life Round Top Lodge had their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 26 at the American Legion Hall. President, Linda Mattocks, called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Lila Garlin’s picture made the Fayette County Record with “Best of Educational Exhibit Department” featuring home food wastes.

The Lodge’s “Helping Hands” service was discussed with items needed in the Country Store, and workers for set-up, sales and pricing items. All help and donations will be much appreciated.

Gary Goebel catering will provide the Christmas Party on Dec. 8 with a meal consisting of chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, and slaw. The evening will begin with a social hour, followed by a meeting, noon meal, games, and will conclude with an invitation to attend the Shelby Member’s Christmas party that evening starting at 5 p.m.

All officers were re-elected by accumulation.

Happy Birthday was sung to Jeanette Schoenst, Carmen Ebner, and Earl Fenske. Happy Birthday and speedy recovery wishes were sent to Margie Stardig.

Attendance prizes were won by Leonard Meinkowsky, Floyd Braun, Jeanette Hancock, Earl Fenske, and Sophie Rauch.

A big “thank you” to the serving committee of Mary, Melanie, and Sophie Rauch, Bob and Betty Porter, Valgene and Carmen Ebner, Dwight Nittsche, and Randy Wied. A delicious lunch was enjoyed by all.

The next serving committee will be Leonard and Myrt Meinkowsky, Jeanette Schoenst, Lana Limmer, Max Baranowski, and Jeanette Hancock. The next meeting will be Nov. 21.

Church News 

There will not be a service held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church or St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby on Sunday, Oct. 27. Rather the service will be held at Carby Chapel at Lutherhill beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The BLC Church Council will meet October 13 after the Service. The Sewing Circle will meet Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 9:30 a.m.

The BLC Church Picnic will be held Sunday, Oct. 27 from 4-7 p.m.

Mass at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Warrenton are held the first Tuesday of the month at 8 a.m. for the intentions left on the Altar. More information can be found at stjohnfayetteville.com/st-martin.
