The 19th annual Round Top Family Library Chili Cook-Off will take place this Sunday, Jan. 14. It will be held at a new location this year – the Round Top Rifle Hall. It will be filled with delicious smells of chilis. Come by to sample and vote on your favorite team’s chili, enjoy live music by The Black Cat Choir, and have a go at the live auction beginning at noon. Tickets are $10 for adults, children under 12 are free. All proceeds from this event will go directly to the Round Top Family Library. RT-CISD Holiday The kids will be out Monday, Jan. 15 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The monthly school board meeting will be Monday, Jan. 22 beginning at 6 p.m.

Small School, Big Hearts Mark your calendars for Saturday, Feb. 3 for the annual “Small School, Big Hearts” fundraiser that will take place at the Round Top Rifle Hall. Tickets for the chicken and sausage plates are now available at local school offices, Round Top Mercantile, Round Top and Carmine banks, and online at rtceducationfoundation.

org. Sponsorship opportunities are available at multiple levels and include meal tickets, drink tickets, as well as social media and event acknowledgements.

Hamburger Social

The Round Top Rifle Hall’s Monday Night Hamburger Socials are back on the schedule. On the first, second, and third Mondays of each month, the Hall is open from 5:30-8 p.m. for hamburgers, “The Rooster,” hotdogs, or chilidogs, along with fries or onion rings. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the Round Top Rifle Association.

Houston Jazz Orchestra

The Houston Jazz Orchestra will be at Festival Hill on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 3-4:45 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for students. Saturday, Jan. 27, Asleep at the Wheel will be at Festival Hill from 7-9 p.m. This is an evening of Texas Swing benefiting Festival Hill. Tickets are available at festivalhill.org. 2024 Winter Antiques Show The 2024 Winter Antiques Show is Thursday, Jan. 18 through Sunday, Jan. 21. The winter show is primarily yearround vendors and businesses, but there are several pop-ups along Highway 237.

Round Top C of C

There will be a January Chamber of Commerce member meeting for lunch on Wednesday, Jan. 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Duo at Market Hill. Meal tickets are $25 and can be purchased at exploreroundtop. com.

Bethlehem Lutheran

The Bible Study Group at Bethlehem Lutheran Church met Thursday, Jan. 4, led by Pastor John David Nedbalek reviewing the book of Mark. Pastor John David emphasized the first chapter, as the discussion covered John the Baptist and Jesus in the early years of their ministry. Jolene Wickel brought her guitar, and the group sang “Going on a Journey.” Pearlie Wagner served as hostess and handed out the new yearbooks. The next Bible study will be Feb. 1, at which time there will be the January lesson in the Gather. All are welcome.

BLC’s Ruth Circle meets the first Thursday of the month, and Sewing Circle meets the first Tuesday of the month.

St. Paul Lutheran - Shelby St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby hosts Quilting every third Wednesday of the month, and game day the first Wednesday of the month.

St. Martin’s Catholic Church The next monthly Mass for St. Martin’s Catholic Church will be Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 8 a.m.
