Annual Hymn Sing Along, Ice Cream Social July 21 at St. Barnabas Church in Bellville

On Sunday, July 21, at 3 p.m. St. Barnabas’s Anglican Church, 237 West Austin Street, Bellville, will host its annual Hymn-sing and Ice Cream Social, held now for about a decade (except the year of COVID).

In years past, the mission parish held this special service in late October or early November in an effort to avoid the many festivals already on the county’s calendar for October. This is the first year the church has been able to schedule it for a time of the year when good old Blue Bell ice cream provides a relief from summer’s heat.

As always, all of the greater community of Bellville and Austin County are invited to join in praising the Lord through song. Singers can choose any hymn from the Reformed Episcopal hymnal or from copies of the songbook, assembled together by an earlier Vicar, which contains hymns from a broader Christian tradition (such as Baptist and Methodist), the organist requiring full scores written. After about an hour of song, the congregation will partake of the ice cream, inside the nave, not out on the lawn.
