    Annual Christmas Opry Dec. 19

The Fayette County Country Music Club will host their Christmas Opry on Monday, Dec. 19 at the KC Hall in La Grange. The show starts at 7 p.m. and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $7.

The opry will feature Dennis Stryk, Arthur Bosque, Allison Crowson, The Dujka Brothers, and Bernard “Nap” Gabler with a visit from Santa Claus.

Dennis Stryk of Schulenburg, a lifelong resident of Fayette County, was intrigued with country music since the age of seven, spanning some 65 years. In 1973 he became the lead singer for “The Wild West” and in 1976, the band “Wildfire,” playing dancehalls throughout south central Texas, playing the songs of recording artists Ray Price, Merle Haggard, B J Thomas, & Ronnie Milsap. Also in 1973, he became owner and operator of New Bielau dancehall south of Weimar for 22 years, featuring some of the best country bands in central Texas.

Since 1995, he has been singing for weddings, funerals, and memorial and veterans events. For the past 11 years, he was fortunate enough to become a member of a Christian musical group, “D’Vine Testament.” All and all, you could say “he just loves to sing.”

Arthur Bosque, a hometown singer, will be here to sing some Spanish songs and will be doing a tribute to the late and great Freddy Fender.

Allison Crowson is from Brenham and has been singing and playing around the area for many years. She started the Bluebonnet Opry in Brenham and is a great accordion player and singer. She now runs the White Horse Tavern in downtown Burton with live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

The duo of John and Mark Dujka, the Dujka Brothers, are celebrating their 33rd year in the entertainment business. They have appeared at numerous public and private celebrations spreading their excitement for the traditional music that helped build and strengthen Czech and German communities in the state. Their music can be heard on polka radio programs across the nation as well as the Big Joe Polka show on RFD-TV and they have been recognized by the Texas Polka Music Association and 247PolkaHeaven.com for their recordings.

The Dujka Brothers are proficient on numerous wind and key board instruments as well as guitars and accordions, blending their voices to create an outstanding sound that has helped to make them one of Texas most popular duos in polka music. They have produced many albums with over 200 tracks. You will be amazed by their versatility and their honesty in delivering the best in Texas polka and waltz music.

Also joining the Dujka Brothers will be Bella Dujka who is Mark’s daughter. She is a junior at East Bernard High School and has been singing with her father and Uncle John for many years.

Bernard “Nap” Gabler started singing as a freshman for school functions at Bishop Forest in Schulenburg. He has enjoyed sitting in with many local bands in the past, both in this area and in Victoria where he has been living since 1985. He sings in the Victoria area churches, rest homes and country oprys.

The opry is also hoping to have a visitor from the North Pole. A good source has said ol’ Santa Claus will take time out of his busy schedule to come and visit the Opry.

Be sure to be with the Fayette County Country Music Club on Monday, Dec. 19, 2022 for the annual Christmas Opry.
