Annual Carmine Christmas Fest this Sunday

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce 38th annual Christmas Fest with the theme “The Polar Express” will be held this Sunday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Carmine Hall, located at 300 Hauptstrasse, Carmine.
Beef stew and hamburgers will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., dine-in or to-go. Tickets are sold at the door for $12. They may also be purchased in advance at Carmine State Bank or from any Chamber of Commerce board member.
A musical program, “The Holly Jolly Pirates of Pinataville!” will be presented by RT-C Elementary School students at 1:30 p.m.

Visit with Santa from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Ride the Polar Express. Shop at over 25 vendors. You may also vote for popular winners in the Holiday Craft Contest, which Pre-K through eighth grade students have entered. Judges will select other winners.
Carmine Lions Club
The Carmine Lions Club continues to collect food for the AMEN Food Pantry in La Grange for the month of November. A donation box is at Carmine State Bank.
Situational Awareness Program
A Situational Awareness program will be presented Monday, Dec. 5 at the Carmine Firemen’s Annex from 6:30-8:30 p.m. It is located at the corner of Centennial Street and Augsburg Avenue.
Come to learn safety tips for the holidays, presented by Officer Tammy Jo McCleney. Reduce your risk of becoming a victim. Know your surroundings and your options. Identify a threat and know when to run, hide, or fight. The presentation is free to the public.
Heritage Committee
The Heritage Committee of the Carmine Chamber of Commerce will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at the Chamber’s Museum in Carmine at 10 a.m.
The topic of discussion will be “The Evolution of Banking” with Calvin Coufal, president of Carmine State Bank, offering insight into the banking industry, past and present.
All are welcome to attend.
Ledbetter Lane of Lights
The Ledbetter Christmas Lane of Lights continues this weekend, Dec. 2-3. Other dates are Dec. 9-10; 16-17; and 23. Enjoy a hayride through a lighted path of Christmas reflections. Santa will be there each night. Tickets are available from 6-8:30 p.m. at FM 1291 and Hwy. 290.
All proceeds benefit the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department.
Carmine VFD
Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is the second Thursday in December.

Bingo for seniors is Dec. 11 from 2-4 p.m. at the Ledbetter Community Center.
MLLC News
Advent worship service will be Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. A meal will be served at 6 p.m. Both will be in the Fellowship Hall.
Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School meets Sunday at 8:30 a.m. for their Christmas Program practice.
Worship with Holy Communion observing the Second Sunday of Advent is at 10 a.m. The service will be on the mllccarmine. com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean #1 and #2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
