Animal Shelter Encourages Microchiping Your Pets

As of Feb. 21, the total intake for 2025 at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter (GJAS) is 224: 117 dogs and 107 cats in need. There are 81 animals in care: 66 dogs and 15 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to a rescue partner.

The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter offers a discount voucher program to the citizens of Fayette County for the spay or neuter of family pets. GJAS has a microchip special for Fayette County pets.
