AMEN Serves 242 Families In April 2022

The AMEN Food Pantry in La Grange continued to be busy in the month of April. Two hundred and forty-two families were served for the month for a total of 635 individuals. A total of 123 volunteers for 297 hours served the pantry. A total of 1,478 pounds of food were donated. This is an increase of the number of individuals served over the past months with the rise in food costs.

Donations can be dropped off on Monday mornings from nine till noon or Thursday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Monetary donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 571, La Grange, Texas 78945, or dropped off at the Pantry.

Produce season has arrived. If you have produce to donate, drop-off on Monday morning at 8:30 a.m if possible, to allow distribution on Monday or Thursday between 10 a.m. and noon. The pantry has ample refrigeration to store produce.

AMEN will be closed Monday, May 30 for Memorial Day, however, will be open on Tuesday, May 31 for food distribution. Clients will be able to continue to receive food two times a month.

The pantry has had several donations of beef and pork donated from farm raised animals. The pantry has substantial freezer space to take this type of donations. If pork is donated, pork chops two per package and the balance in one pound ground meat. If beef is donated ground, meat and roasts are preferred. The only qualifier, meat must be processed at a certified processor having all USDA credentials. This type of large donation special receiving times can be made. Mobile pantry at Waldeck served 111 families for a total of 242 individuals. A total of twenty-four volunteers with 6,062 pounds distributed.
