AMEN Sees Large Increase of Volume for the Holidays
The AMEN Food Pantry board and volunteers appreciates the community for all the support given to the pantry. The foods needs were great, however with your donations of food and money, the pantry met the needs. As we move forward in 2024 the need is there for food and monetary donations. The board says thank you for your past and current support.
The pantry served 339 families for the month of December versus prior year 248 which is a 27% increase over prior year. There were 14 new clients for the month. The donations and the monetary donations given by the community have allowed the pantry to purchase products not available from the food bank. Along with the food products provided the clients are given a food voucher to H-E-B that can be used for food purchase. These vouchers are charged to AMEN and paid monthly.
AMEN is need of additional volunteers to serve the volume occurring at the pantry. Please consider to donate three hours of your time on Mondays. If your church is participating with AMEN, contact your coordinator. If you are wanting to volunteer and not represented by a church, drop by on Monday at 8:30 a.m. and your time will be appreciated.
The volunteer count was 107 with 293 hours provided to the pantry. The mobile pantry in Waldeck served 70 families with 27 volunteers. The demand was so high that not all in line received food.
A reminder food donation is needed and can be dropped off on Mondays in the morning hours from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., or Thursday from 10 a.m. till noon. If you require a special time, call (979) 968-3943 and leave a message. Monetary donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 571, La Grange, Texas 78945.
A thank you to the community and the volunteers to provide the resources and labor to provide this service to our community.
