AMEN Food Pantry Assists 835 in March
The AMEN Food Pantry appreciates all in the community that provided food assistance for the month of March. This would include all that provided monetary donations, food drives and the AMEN Gardens. The gardeners have been providing beets, kale, carrots and many other leafy vegetables.
A recap for the month provides the following statistics. 298 families were served, which represented 835 individuals served.
Donated food was 9,926 pounds. The number of volunteers was 219 for a total of 948 hours.
The impact of your generous donations provided this need. The AMEN board and volunteers say thank you. Monetary donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 571 La Grange, Texas 78945. You can go to www.amenlagrange.org and make a donation through the link provided.
H-E-B donated 100 reusable bags along with the Social Ministry committee of Holy Rosary and St. Peter and Paul Catholic churches donated 75 reuseable bags and 300 paper bags. Since the inception of reusable bags 21,000 single use plastic bags have been kept out of landfills.
The pantry is open to provide products on Monday from 9 a.m. to noon and open on Thursday for items to be droped off from 10 a.m. - 12 noon.
The pantry is open for food distribution on the first Thursday and third Thursday of the month from 4:30-6 p.m. Those dates are May 7 and May 21.
