84th Annual Voelkel Family Reunion Held

A total of 65 people attended the 84th Voelkel Family Reunion on Aug. 4 at Harmonie Hall in Shelby. This is an increase over last year, when 58 attended. Gary Goebel Catering provided a delicious barbecue meal.

Branch Luetge and other members of the Fayetteville Masonic Lodge made a special presentation, awarding Oscar B. Voelkel Jr. of Shelby a certificate for his 65 years of membership. His father and brothers were also members of the same lodge.

Cash awards of $10 were given to: 1) Youngest attendee: Jocelyn Meyer, 11 months old; 2) Oldest attendee: JoAnn Mueller, 89; 3) Married longest: Carole and Doug Boyd, 60 years and 352 days; 4) Newly married: Shelby and Patrick Price, wed in 202; 5) Traveled farthest: Marisa, Chris, Mia and Zoe König from Switzerland.

The 2025 Officers Elected were President: Sidney Schuhmann Levesque; Treasurer: Brenda Voelkel Smith; Secretary: Carole Boyd; Historian: Cheryl Voelkel Powell; Silent Auction: Theresa Hemmi Voelkel. Next year’s date is Aug. 3, 2025.

Round Top-Carmine ISD 

Wednesday marked the first day back to school for the 2024-2025 school year! School pictures are Aug. 22, and students have an early release on Aug. 23. Students have their first school holiday Monday, Sept. 2 in observance of Labor Day.

RTC Shrimp Boil 

The RTC Booster Club is hosting a shrimp boil Saturday, Sept. 21. Happy Hour begins at 5 p.m., the meal will be served at 6 p.m. VIP tables for 10 people are available for $1,800, or a table for 8 is available for $600. To purchase tables, contact (979) 203-4343.

The Round Top Rifle Hall has a Monday Night Burger Social the first, second, and third Mondays each month beginning at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Festival Hill

Town of Round Top 

The Town of Round Top Town Council meets the third Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m. Meetings are held at Town Hall unless otherwise posted. Citizens are encouraged and welcome to attend.
