    151st Annual Celebration of Schutzenfest Sunday

Sunday, Sept. 17 come out for an evening of traditional German fun. The 151 Annual Celebration of Schutzenfest will begin at 3 p.m. at the Rifle Hall. Round Top Brass Band performs beginning at 4 p.m., followed by the crowning of the New Koenig and Ceremonial keg tapping at 5 p.m. Enjoy a free dance 5:308 p.m. A chicken fried steak meal will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Monday Night Hamburger Social takes place the first, second and third Mondays each month starting at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the RTRA.

Cooking Event Canceled The cooking event with Chef Grady Spears scheduled for Sept. 27 has been canceled.

Local Events

Busted Oak Cellars will have Nathan Hinojosa Friday, Sept. 15 from 6-9 p.m., Bill Pekar Saturday from 4-7 p.m., and Danielle Reich Sunday from 2-5 p.m.

Over at The Stone Cellar catch the Risky Liver Band Friday from 7-10 p.m., and David Lewis Saturday from 7-10 p.m. Karaoke is Thursday, Sept. 21 beginning at 7 p.m.

Round Top Brewing will have Mike Stroup Saturday, Sept. 16 from 6-8 p.m., and Victor Bustos Sunday from 12-3 p.m.

Round Top-Carmine ISD The Texas A&M School of Nursing and their Mobile Health Unit will be on the Round Top-Carmine campuses every Wednesday during the school year. All students, staff, and community members are eligible to be seen. Appointments can be made by calling (979) 436-0587.

Students have an early release Friday, Sept. 22, and a school holiday Monday, Oct. 9.

Round Top Family Library The Round Top Family Library has multiple free classes available to the community. It is definitely worth checking out, their website is www.ilovetoread. org. All classes and opportunities, as well as the library hours are posted on the website.

Here are some of the things that are coming up: Saturday, Sept. 16 there will be a Sign-Language class for ages 6 and up. The class will meet on select Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Registration is required.

Junior Master Gardeners for fourth through sixth grades, art class for grades second through twelfth grades, jazz dance for grades kindergarten through sixth grades, chess club for ages 7 and up, and Taekwondo for ages 7 and up are all offered during the week. Town Council Meeting

The third Town Hall Meeting to develop a Strategic Plan for the Town of Round Top will be Oct. 4. If you have an idea of the direction the town should go, submit a written statement of your ideas to the Town Clerk at the town Office. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Hall.

The Round Top Town Council meetings are held the second Monday of the month at the Town Hall located at 100 Main Street unless otherwise posted. Citizens are encouraged and welcome to attend. Agendas are posted on the website at www.townofroundtop. org at least 72 hours prior to the meeting time.

Church News

St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Warrenton holds a monthly service at 8 a.m. for the intentions left on the altar. This month’s mass was Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 8 a.m. View the bulletin online at stjohnfayetteville. com for more information.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church holds services with Pastor John David Nedbalek Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school is the first Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Ruth Circle is the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Sewing Circle is the second Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. Pastor John David leads adult bible study the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m.

The WELCA Western Fall Gathering is tentatively set for Oct. 21 at United Evangelical Lutheran Church at SwissAlp.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church bible study met Thursday, Sept. 7. Pastor John David Nedbalek started with identifying where a “Holy Place,” physically and spiritually was. Every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God. Our bodies and the world are at home in God’s love. Fourteen participants shared their experiences of home which proved that home is rarely simple. How is God calling us to be the church in the places we call home? Jolene Wickel served as hostess. The next study will be Oct. 5. Everyone is welcome to join.

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby holds worship service at 8 a.m., followed by fellowship, coffee, and Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. Game Day is held the first Wednesday of each month from 2-4 p.m. Quilting meets the third Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m.

The annual church service in the historical church across the road will be Sept. 24 at 8 a.m., followed by the church picnic in the education building. St. Cecilia’s Round Top Episcopal Church holds services with Father Bill Miller Sundays at 8:45 and 10:45 a.m. in the historic Haw Creek Chapel in Henkel Square. The Saint Cecilia’s Sisterhood Study Group meets from 1011:15 a.m. For more information, please visit the website at www.StCecilias.org.
