129th Annual Serbin Picnic this Sunday

The public is invited to the 129th Annual Serbin Picnic, Sunday, May 28 at the Serbin Picnic Grounds.

Worship will be held at 8:30 a.m. The Wendish Museum will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day, there will be a children’s program, booths, games and train rides at 2 p.m. The Serbin baseball team will play the Shiner Clippers at 2 p.m. Entertainment by the Czech Melody Masters will be from 3-8 p.m. Washer pitching tournament will be held at 5 p.m.

Barbecue by the pound (boneless beef, pork and chicken) will be sold starting at 9 a.m. until sold out. The Ladies Aid Stand will sell potato salad, beans, pickles, noodles and desserts. The youth will sell hamburgers in the afternoon. There will also be plenty of sodas, ice cream, snow cones and cold beer.

TWHS Scholarship

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society Scholarship Program is now taking scholarship applications. The Texas Wendish Heritage Society (TWHS) appreciates support given to the scholarship program. All TWHS funds are received through fundraising projects and donations. This scholarship program is available to students of Wendish descent and encourages students to learn more about their Wendish heritage. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school for fall 2023 semester.

Scholarship applications for 2023-2024 are available online at www.texaswendish. org and on the Texas Wendish Facebook Page. Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran in Warda on June 12-14 from 5:30-8 p.m. Registration information is on the website at: www.holycrosswarda.com.

Vacation Bible School will be held at St. Paul Lutheran in Serbin from June 12-16, with classes 8:15-11:15 a.m. for grades 3-7. Rainforest Explorers is the theme and the children will learn how Jesus is the ultimate guide in their lives. Registration is available at their website: www.stpaulserbin. org

Camp Lone Star

Camp Lone Star in La Grange Summer Camp Registration is now open. They offer weeklong and weekend programs for ages 5-18 to have an adventurous Christ-centered experience. Faith Lutheran High School Summer Youth Camps are back. FLHS is excited to offer a variety of camps for youth this summer. Ages are for grades next school year. May 30-June 1: Volleyball-Grade 3-8. Cost is $20; June 12-14: Basketball-Grade K-8, $20; June 19-21: STEM Camp-Grade K-6, $40; June 26-28: Art Camp-Grade K-6, $40; July 31-Aug. 1: Archery-Grade 4-8, $20.

Faith Lutheran High School will have part time openings on its faculty for the 2023-2024 academic year.
