129th Annual Serbin Picnic Slated May 28

Mark your calendars for the Annual Serbin Picnic, Sunday May 28, at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. Worship will be held at 8:30 a.m. The Wendish Museum will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. that day, there will be a children’s program, booths, games and train rides at 2 p.m. The Serbin baseball team will paly the Shiner Clippers at 2 p.m. Entertainment by the Czech Melody Masters will be from 3-8 p.m. Washer pitching tournament will be held at 5 p.m. Barbecue by the pound (boneless beef, pork and chicken) will be sold starting at 9 a.m. until sold out. The Ladies Aid Stand will sell potato salad, beans, pickles, noodles and desserts. The youth will sell hamburgers in the afternoon there will also be plenty of sodas, ice cream, snow cones and cold beer. You are invited to come out and be a part of the 129th Serbin Picnic.

TWHS Scholarship

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society Scholarship Program is now taking scholarship applications. The Texas Wendish Heritage Society (TWHS) appreciates support given to the scholarship program. All TWHS funds are received through fundraising projects and donations. This scholarship program is available to students of Wendish descent and encourages students to learn more about their Wendish heritage. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school for Fall 2023 semester. Scholarship applications for 2023-2024 are available online at www.texaswendish. org and on the Texas Wendish Facebook Page. The entire process is online and must be submitted digitally by the deadline of 5 p.m. on Saturday July 14, 2023. Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran in Warda on June 12-14 from 5:30-8 p.m. Registration information is on the website at: www.holycrosswarda.com. Vacation Bible School will be held at St. Paul Lutheran in Serbin on June 12-16 from 8:15-11:15 a.m. for grades 3-7. Camp Lone Star in La Grange Summer Camp Registration is now open. They offer weeklong and weekend programs for ages 5-18 to have an adventurous Christ-centered experience. The Sewing Circle in Warda meets every Thursday from 9 a.m.-noon in the old Parish Hall of Holy Cross Church (entrance is behind the church.) You do not have to be a church member to join this fun group of ladies and no experience is necessary. They cut, sew, tie quilts and trim stamps, and enjoy some good food and fellowship.

Cancelled postage stamps are also collected. These are trimmed and sold to collectors and helps offset the costs of shipping for quilts. They can be dropped off at the church office or placed in the designated box in the church narthex.

Holy Cross Services

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Faith Lutheran High School Summer Youth Camps are back. FLHS is excited to offer a variety of camps for youth this summer. Ages are for grades NEXT school year.

Faith Lutheran High School will have part time openings on its faculty for the 2023-2024 academic year. Interested individuals who teach any subject are encouraged to apply, but science, social studies, English or electives are sought after skills.
