The 11th annual Oktobierfest will be held Saturday, Oct. 28 beginning at 11 a.m. Hosted by the Round Top Schutzen Verein at the Round Top Rifle Hall, this all-day event includes an official Keg Tapping at noon, quality German biers, delicious Kassler, Wurst and Kraut, and a free concert under the outdoor pavilion.

Monday Night Hamburger Social takes place the first, second and third Mondays each month starting at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the RTRA.

Round Top Antiques Show

The Round Top Antiques show begins Oct. 12. A few upcoming events along with the show: Dinner in the Hayfield at Blue Hills at Round Top. Enjoy dinner and drinks by Chef, Victor Torres of Eloise Nichols. This VIP dining experience includes a one-of-a-kind artisan block print ruffle bag full of goodies. Runway Fashion Show

Friday, Oct. 20 is The Round Top Runway Fashion Show with Western Jelly at the 550 Market at The Stone Cellar. Showtime is 5:45 p.m. This experience includes live music, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres an an unforgettable fashion show. Tickets are available by visiting thestonecellartx. com.

Live and Local

Saturday, Oct. 21 is a fantastic evening at Royers Café featuring live music at Drift & Holler and exquisite wines from Belle Glos Family Wines. This in-person event will take place at 1440 Hwy 237. More information and links to tickets can be found at exploreroundtop.com.

The Stone Cellar is hosting Black Cat Choir Saturday, Oct. 7 from 7-10 p.m. Next weekend Cory Morrow will be at the Round Top Dance Hall for the start of the Fall Antique Show. This particular event requires tickets – purchase them online at thestonecellartx. com.

Busted Oaks Cellars has Michael Player Friday from 6-9 p.m., and Eric Flores Sunday 2-5 p.m.

Round Top Brewery will host the Red River Showdown on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. Come out to watch the UT vs. OU game. This event is a scholarship fundraiser hosted by Fayette County Chapter of Texas Exes. On Sunday, Tyler Tillman will be at the brewery from 4-6 p.m.

Round Top-Carmine ISD

A Junior FFA meeting will take place Oct. 12 during the school day. Students have a school holiday on Monday, Oct. 9. The next school board meeting will be Oct. 16. For sports information, visit the Carmine section of the newspaper.

Round Top Family Library

Junior Master Gardeners for fourth through sixth grades, art class for grades second through twelfth grades, jazz dance for grades kindergarten through sixth grades, chess club for ages 7 and up, and Taekwondo for ages 7 and up are all free classes offered during the week. Sunday, Oct. 8 it’s an “Author, Author!” book fair. This event will feature local authors including Audrey Wick, Jason Stone, Fr. Bill Miller and more. The fair runs from 1-5 p.m.

The next Family Game Day is Saturday, Oct. 14 from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 is a Wine Makers Class beginning at 10 a.m. and Sign Language Class beginning at 10:30 a.m. Register by contacting the library.

Fayette County 4-H

The Fayette County 4-H Club is taking orders for the annual 4-H poinsettia sale. Each plant is $12. Make your checks payable to RT-C 4-H club. Orders accepted through Oct. 22.

Winedale

Winedale’s next lunch and learn will be on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at noon via zoom. Historian Sheldon Lippman, the immediate past-president and an active member of the Texas Jewish Historical Society, will present “The Comings and Goings of a Jewish Community in Fayette County.” He will discuss the Jewish families who settled in the towns of Fayette County. The Round Top Town Council meetings are held the second Monday of the month at the Town Hall located at 100 Main Street unless otherwise posted. Citizens are encouraged and welcome to attend. Agendas are posted on the website at www.townofroundtop. org at least 72 hours prior to the meeting time.

Round Top Hermann Sons Vice President, Lila Garlin, called the regular business meeting of Round Top Hermann Sons Lodge 151 to order at the American Legion Hall on Thursday evening Sept. 28, with the pledge of allegiance to the flag. President, Linda Mattocks, was attending a Hermann Sons agent’s training near Comfort.

The main discussion was about the country store at the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department feast on Oct. 7. Whole baked items will be good for sale as the Ledbetter Homemakers will only be selling their baked goods by the slice to complete the fried chicken meal. All craft items are encouraged. The plant sale already has nearly 100 items ready to go. Remember canned goods. Slightly used items are always a bargain for the shoppers. Set up will begin at 3 p.m. with a projected opening at 4 p.m.

The Christmas party was discussed. Cecily Kelly from the home office plans to attend. Make a Difference Day will be the next month’s collections for money and items needed for children from birth to age 18. Items can be taken to the Round Top Real Estate Office or brought to the November and December meetings. There will be no meeting in October but the Nov. 16 meeting will have a hot meal. Members may bring a salad or dessert.

Happy birthday was sung to Jeanette Schoenst. Attendance prizes went to Lila Garlin, Betty Porter, Jeanette Schoenst, La Verne Albers and Floyd Braun. Refreshments and fellowship was enjoyed by all.

Church News

St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Warrenton holds a monthly service at 8 a.m. for the intentions left on the altar. Please note there is no Mass scheduled for October. View the bulletin online at stjohnfayetteville. com for more information.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church holds services with Pastor John David Nedbalek Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school is the first Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Ruth Circle is the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Sewing Circle is the second Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. Pastor John David leads adult bible study the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m.

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby holds worship service at 8 a.m., followed by fellowship, coffee, and Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. Game Day is held the first Wednesday of each month from 2 - 4 p.m. Quilting meets the third Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m.

St. Cecilia’s Round Top Episcopal Church holds services with Father Bill Miller Sundays at 8:45 and 10:45 a.m. in the historic Haw Creek Chapel in Henkel Square. “Bring Your Dog to Church Day” will be Sunday, Oct. 8 in celebration of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. The service will be held outdoors under the Oak trees. Bring a lawn chair and your furry friend for some time with Jesus. A special offering for Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter will take place ,and both human and animal treats will be available after the service.
