Glenna Lee Goetzinger passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2024, in La Grange.

Born on Dec. 9, 1933, in Harlingen to Roy Madeson Hudson and Ruth Gregory Hudson. Glenna’s life was marked by her unwavering spirit, deep faith, and the love she shared with those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and dedication that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Glenna’s journey began in the Rio Grande Valley, where she graduated from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School in 1952. Her passion for education led her to Pan American College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1956. Her academic achievements laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong commitment to learning and teaching.

For over three decades, Glenna devoted herself to the education of young minds as an elementary bilingual teacher. Her ability to connect with her students and her enthusiasm for teaching left an indelible mark on countless lives. Her dedication to her profession extended beyond the classroom as she

was an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma International, Rho chapter, where she worked alongside fellow educators to promote professional and personal growth.

Glenna is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Dale Goetzinger. Together, they built a family grounded in love and faith. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Kerry and her husband Brian Ryder, and Gay and her husband Chuck Mazac. Known as Ponkie to her cherished grandchildren, April (Zac), Mandee (Adam), Wesley (Ashley), Kristy, and Rebekah (Aaron). She was also a proud great-grandmother to Glenn, Claire, Kate, Samuel, Harvey, and soon to arrive Scarlett.

Glenna’s interests and talents were as vibrant as her personality. She had a gift for embroidering colorful pictures that brought joy to all who saw them. Her daughters fondly remember the beautiful dresses she sewed for them, each stitch a testament to her love and care. She enjoyed sewing quilts for her grandchildren and customized the quilts to their wishes.

Those who knew Glenna would describe her as loving, courageous, and faith-filled. Her strength was evident in the way she approached life’s challenges, and her courage inspired those around her. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through every step of her journey.

As we reflect on her life, we are reminded of the impact one person can have on so many. Being a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, she devoted her time and talents endlessly. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, vacation bible school teacher, church food pantry volunteer and preparing many church potluck meals. She volunteered with Girl Scouts of America and Pharr Memorial Library.

Glenna’s passing is not only a time of mourning but also a celebration of a life well-lived. We take comfort in knowing that she has found eternal peace and that her legacy will endure through the lives she touched. We will miss her deeply, but we are consoled by the memories we carry and the knowledge that she lived a life full of purpose and love.

Her family would like to express their gratitude to the exceptional staff of Brazos Valley Hospice. Thanks also to her wonderful caregivers: Nelva Ramirez, Blanca Guzman, Tonia Perry, and Doris Beinhauer In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request that donations be made to New Life Methodist Church or Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter.
