A new community partnership dedicated to helping local residents age safely and comfortably in their homes officially began May 11 as volunteers gathered in Flatonia for this year’s Habitat for Humanity outreach project.

The effort is being coordinated in partnership with Fayette County Habitat for Humanity and focuses on supporting aging in place and providing essential home repairs for community members in need. The first project centers on the home of Sarah and Doug Futschik. Volunteers and supporters from across the area have come together to lend their time, talents, and resources to the initiative. Local courts also played an important role in supporting the workers by providing meals during the kickoff days of the project.

Court #1597 in Schulenburg delivered a meal for volunteers on May 11, followed by Court #2570 of Flatonia on May 12. Their generosity helped care for those serving on the project and highlighted the strong spirit of community involvement behind the effort.
