Two of the Three Original ZZ Top Band Members Are Now Gone

Frank Beard, the longtime drummer of ZZ Top (the band that made La Grange world famous with their song ‘La Grange’) died Tuesday at his ranch in Richmond at the age of 77. His death follows the passing of Dusty Hill, the band’s bassist, who died in 2021. That leaves lead singer/guitarist Billy Gibbons, 76, as the last surviving longtime member of the band. Shown here are two photos (Beard on the left at his drum set, and all three members on the right, from when ZZ Top played at The Fayette County Fair in 2015 in front of 18,000 fans, the largest concert in fair history.
