Senior Connections Welcomes Locals For Fun Events Next Week

At Senior Connections, you’ll feel right at home and become part of the family as you join for fun-filled days in Schulenburg, Weimar, and Flatonia. Membership is free, the food is fine, and the fellowship is even better.

Daily schedule is consistent across all locations. Doors open at 9 a.m., where you’ll be greeted by smiling, welcoming volunteers and a hot cup of coffee or cocoa. In the morning, a variety of games like Dominoes, Sequence, and card games are available, or you can simply sit and chat with friends.

At 11:15 a.m., we gather for announcements, prayer concerns, the pledge, and a blessing, followed by a lineup at 11:30 a.m. for a homecooked, nutritious meal that warms the heart. Lunch and Learn programs are scheduled for Mondays and Tuesdays, followed by bingo; on Wednesdays, we dive straight into bingo after lunch.

We are excited to offer amazing art classes on Fridays during what we call “Artful Fridays,” in partnership with Arts for Rural Texas. This gives fantastic creative opportunities to our members.

Join on Monday, Jan. 12 in Schulenburg at 1111 Bohlmann Ave. Kocurek Clinic will be checking blood pressures for our members in the morning, followed by a delicious meal of chicken and sausage gumbo over rice, a fresh salad topped with seasonal fruit, and desserts brought by our members. The Lunch and Learn speaker is Tammy Chavez from “Travels by Tammy,” who will share her adventures and perhaps inspire us to join one someday. Niesha from True Care Living will join us at 12:30 p.m. for bingo, always a highlight of the day.

Tuesday, January 13 Flatonia Meet at the Flatonia Methodist Church, 301 W. Saint Charles St., on Tuesday, Jan. 13. The meal features a member favorite: Amanda’s lasagna, garlic bread, and our famous house salad, with desserts provided by our members. Michelle Hollon will be our Senior Spotlight, sharing her experiences with mission work abroad. Haley from Crown Hospice will be back to call bingo at 12:30 p.m. bringing her cheerful spirit.

On Wednesday, Jan. 14 in Schulenburg, Connie Koopmann, Schulenburg Mayor and beloved board member, will provide today’s meal from her catering service everyone in our community knows and loves. Enjoy beef tips over rice, a fresh salad, and garlic bread, with desserts from our lovely members. Chyla from Wellsential Nursing Facilities in Hallettsville will be here to call bingo. She is beautiful inside and out.

Artfull Friday will be held on Jan. 16 From 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., participants will continue working with their teachers in art classes.
