Rainfall Welcome, But We’re Still Behind
Welcome rain fell across Fayette County Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The LCRA gauge at the Colorado River above La Grange recorded 1.16 inches overnight, and forecasters predicted more rain later this week and into next week.
The latest shower brought La Grange’s total for May up to 4.36 inches so far. Another 4.41 inches fell in April. The past two months provided the bulk of the year’s rainfall, at least at the River gauge, which recorded 12.38 inches since Jan. 1. An LCRA gauge in Waldeck recorded 14.03 inches for the year, and the gauge at Lake Fayette recorded 11.72 inches. As the midpoint of the year approaches quickly, the area still behind pace to meet the average, which is about 36 inches annually for Fayette County (according to the Texas Almanac).
