New Childcare Coming to La Grange
Lil’ Einstein Learning Center of Columbus will open a new childcare facility in La Grange.
La Grange Economic Development Corporation (EDC) recently leased the EDC-owned building at 901 Mode Ln. to Lil’ Einstein. The building was previously occupied by the jerky and snack business Oma’s Choice.
“We just got the keys on Monday,” said Veronica King, who owns and operates the business. “The building is being gutted out to bare bones. Plumbing and framing is about to start. So it’s moving.”
King said her company wants to purchase the building at the conclusion of their lease.
King’s husband David, who owns 4K Construction, is remodeling the building. David King said he hopes to have the building ready for kids in time for the beginning of next school year.
For many families, the move can’t happen fast enough. La Grange has long-suffered from a lack of childcare services. When the Remnant Academy closed last year, it made the problem even worse. Lil’ Einstein is quickly growing with a reputation for high-quality childcare. They operate a facility in Weimar in addition to their Big Center and Baby Center in Columbus. Veronica King said they’re also taking over Country Tykes Daycare in Schulenburg following the owner’s retirement there.
“I taught school for 10 years in the greater Houston area, in Alief ISD,” King said. “I left teaching and started the first Lil’ Einstein in 2018. I taught elementary school for 10 years, and during that time I obtained my master’s degree in curriculum instruction.”
King said she operates her childcare centers with a focus on preparing kids for the school system. They also have a lot of fun. Just recently, while the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was going on, Lil’ Einstein brought in a rodeo cowboy to show the kids how to rope. Last week, they celebrated National Crayon Day with some colorful artistic fun.
“Customer service is always number one with us,” King said. “With parents, we’re easy to get in touch with. Myself, as the owner, I’m always a call away. You’re going to see me at one of the centers all the time. I’m on a rotation. Although we’re growing, we still have that personal feel.”
King said parents interested in enrolling their kids at Lil’ Einstein’s La Grange location can call the Big Center in Columbus at (979) 942-9119.
