Murder Suspect Arrested Friday Night in Schulenburg
Schulenburg Police and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect wanted for murder out of Pasadena late Friday night, July 11.
According to reports from Schulenburg Police and the Sheriff’s Office, the Pasadena Police Department notified dispatchers about a murder suspect traveling on Interstate 10.
Around 11:38 p.m., Schulenburg Police Sergeant Tobey McFadden located the vehicle. Fayette County Deputy Chris Stansberry joined Sgt. Mc-Fadden and a traffic stop was conducted. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Deputy Mark Pritchard and Sergeant Duane Meagher of the Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the stop.
Pasadena Police identified the suspect as 48-year-old Kenneth Leon Scott Jr. (of Rosharon).
In a press release issued Friday night, Pasadena Police said they responded to a shooting at the Bubba’s 33 Restaurant on Beltway 8 in Pasadena. Two people were shot, and one of them succumbed to his wounds. The second victim was an employee of the restaurant who sustained a nonlife threatening injury from a stray bullet.
Pasadena Police said citizens inside the restaurant tried to subdue the shooter, but he was able to get away before police arrived. Pasadena Police say they believe the deceased victim and the suspect knew each other.
The Harris County District Attorney accepted charges against Scott for murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said officers here were able to track down Scott through the use of license plate readers.
“This is a great example of interagency teamwork in law enforcement and an example of why license plate readers are beneficial to solving crimes and capturing wanted suspects,” the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on Saturday.
Scott was taken to the Fayette County Jail and held for transport to Harris County.
