LGISD Project Updates
More Highlights from last week’s LGISD School Board meeting: Superintendent Andy McHazlett reported that the current enrollment was 1,873 students with 964 at the elementary school, 309 at the middle school, and 600 at the high school. The overall attendance is 95.75% and the average daily attendance (ADA) is 1,770.88.
Assistant Superintendent told the board of the positive reactions to parent-teacher conferences held on Oct. 14 at the elementary school. She also reported that the teachers at each campus received lots of useful information on Oct. 15 during the purposeful focus days.
Director of Operations Sharon Muzny reported that many projects are being worked on/completed using the money from the maintenance tax note. The projects that are currently underway or have been completed are:
• High school furniture has been ordered – expected to be here is 3-4 weeks
• Roofs have been replaced on Hermes Gym 1 and Music Center
• Stadium sound system is still in process of being repaired and replaced
• PAC chiller and boiler repairs are underway
• Concrete work
• New elementary playground equipment has been ordered and should be in soon. The vendors are ready to install as soon as it arrives.
• Server replacement is underway for the district
• District wide tree trimming • Tennis courts have been resurfaced Coming up next will be the high school fieldhouse renovation. The plan is to start as soon as football season is over. To date the district has just over a million dollars committed or already paid to vendors on all the projects that have been approved.
Fayette Savings Donation Representatives from Fayette Savings presented a check for $2,200 to Superintendent Andy McHazlett at last week’s meeting. The money came from the debit card school program. The debit cards are available for anyone who has an account with Fayette Savings. There are branches of Fayette Savings Bank in La Grange, Flatonia, Schulenburg, and Weimar. A portion of each transaction made with the debit cards goes back to the schools in that community.
