Kolache-Eating Contest Coming to Hruska’s in Ellinger Jan. 17

Historic Hruska’s Bakery in Ellinger is joining the world of competitive eating.

A kolache eating competition is coming to Hruska’s Jan, 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a $400 cash prize to the winner.

The original Hruska family store was founded in 1912 by Frank J. Hruska in downtown Ellinger.

Since 1962, when Adolphine Krenek first started making fresh kolaches to sell at the store, Hruska’s has been well-known for their pastries.
