KJZT Family Life Society No. 31 Meets
KJZT Family Life Society No. 31 members presented Sacred Heart Catholic School Principal Karissa Kleiber a check from the KJZT State Office that represented the 50% Matching funds from the plant wheel booth that Society No. 31 sponsored at the recent Sacred Heart Catholic School Spring Festival. Presenting the check on May 18 from left, Vice President Nicole Vasut, Doris Lidiak, Secretary Marilyn Kothmann, Principal Karissa Kleiber, Treasurer Barbara Eilert, President Elizabeth Kallus, and District V State Director Joy Kovar.
On May 18, the second quarterly social of KJZT Family Life, Society No. 31 St. Frances of Rome of La Grange was held at 4:30 p.m. in the 580 House at Sacred Heart Parish.
Prior to the opening of the meeting, Karissa Kleiber, Principal of Sacred Heart Catholic School, was presented the 50% matching check from KJZT State for the plant wheel game at the Spring Festival that Society No. 31 sponsored. Then La Grange Mayor Jan Dockery signed the Flag Day proclamation, after which she spoke about La Grange happenings.
President Elizabeth Kallus opened the meeting with prayers that included remembering deceased member Rose Recek. Pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags were recited, reading of the minutes was dispensed, Treasurer Barbara Eilert filed her report, and bills were approved for payment.
Secretary Marilyn Kothmann read several thank you notes and KJZT State Office correspondence that included the District V Social will be hosted by Society 20 Cistern on July 12 at Robert’s Steakhouse in Flatonia with deadline to RSVP being July 3; and 53 KJZT Family Life Scholarships will be presented this year to members who are graduating from High School and those continuing their higher education with a total of $29,425 awarded.
KJZT Clerical Endowment Fund enrollments report by Vice President Nicole Vasut showed two birthdays and two sympathies by Society No. 31, and thirty-nine enrollments by individuals. Cheer card was sent to one member; and a Mass will be said for the intention of deceased member Rose Recek. Kallus gave the publicity and KJZT Traveling Unity Rosary reports.
Unfinished business: Deacon Cameron Kologinczak will be ordained to the Priesthood on Saturday, June 6, at St. William’s Parish in Round Rock. It was decided to give a monetary gift.
New Business: Director Joy Kovar held an Officer Social/ Meeting for her Districts III and V on Saturday, May 16, at Robert’s Steakhouse in Flatonia. Attending were Eliabeth Kallus, Barbara Eilert, and Marilyn Kothmann who heard updates from the State Office; and they received an informative “Czech” List handout.
Motions carried to make monetary donations to help sponsor T-shirts for Sacred Heart Church vacation bible school to be held July 8-10, theme being “Cathletics! Training to be Champions for Christ,” and towards the Sacred Heart Catholic Church renovation project.
KJZT Society No. 31 was named as a charity of choice for memorial donations in memory of member, Rose Recek.
District V State Director Joy Kovar mentioned the five-year annuity rate is still very good; and she said her Officer Meeting was very well attended Attendance prize was won by Nicole Vasut and the Memorare was the closing prayer. The next quarterly social will be held Aug. 17.
