AMEN Donation
In a few weeks, potatoes planted in the raised beds at Fayetteville City Park will be harvested and donated to the AMEN Food Pantry. Martin Payne donated the land for the park to the city and spent a day there last week taking in a few sites while mowing.
“I was excited to see a woman bring a baby in a stroller to visit the pretty flowers,” stated Payne. “Then, Angie Richard was resting on one of the blocks. She’s a veteran, and she may grow some vegetables in one of the available raised bed gardens. I walked down and rested with her and her Chihuahua, Poppy, on one of the limestone quarry blocks, taking in the freshly mown grass and pollinator garden.”
“I was once again thankful for all the volunteers and city workers that create, maintain and improve our park. Remember, Rick Schilling donated the quarry blocks to outline the park, and his son Ricky hauled, unloaded and set the blocks under the careful supervision of mom Jeanne Schilling. Karen Bookout created the pollinator garden and Morgan Zator added to it. What a great community.”
