Hospital Targets June Opening

Progressive Health hopes to reopen the La Grange hospital as soon as June.

Dani Dominguez of Progressive Health told the Record this week that all necessary licencing for the hospital should be complete by the week of April 20.

“That is when we hope to have everything aligned for the license,” Dominguez said. “Right after licensing, we have to apply for Medicare. So if the licensing would work out, we should be open by June, give or take.”

Mississippi-based Progressive Health Group purchased the former St. Mark’s Medical Center property in August of last year. The hospital closed in 2023 following years of financial struggles. The new owners have renamed the hospital Progressive Health of Fayette. They plan to reopen it as a rural emergency hospital, a designation that provides supplemental funding from the federal government for maintaining 24-hour emergency, observation and out-patient services with limited in-patient services.
