Gary Adamek Makes The Case For House Bill 4601 at The Texas Capitol April 15

In a three-minute testimony before the Texas House Committee on Land & Resource Management, Gary Adamek, owner of Fayette Country Homes and Chairman of Texas Manufactured Housing Association, didn’t just speak in support of House Bill 4601. He told a generational story.

Adamek recalled how his father, fresh out of Korea, came home and bought 39 acres with a home. He built a life, raised a family, and paid off the land. It was the kind of American dream that used to feel within reach. Fast forward to the present, and Adamek’s own stepson, also an Afghanistan Veteran, is facing a starkly different reality, Adamek said with his tone, a blend of frustration and resolve. House Bill 4601, in which aims to protect and expand access to manufactured housing across Texas, struck a personal chord. Adamek made it clear it’s about giving veterans like his step son a fighting chance at home ownership in an increasingly unaffordable market.

He emphasized that the bill would provide pathways for veterans to achieve housing stability, particularly through funds aimed at preserving access to manufactured homes. With housing costs rising and local ordinances sometimes working against more affordable options, Adamek’s testimony framed HB 4601 not as a bureaucratic fix, but as a human one.

“I’m not just here as a business owner,” he seemed to say between the lines. “I am here on behalf of all the men and women that has served our country.
