Situated on the corner of Colorado and Main Street, the renovations of the new location of La Grange Brewing Company are underway to bring a new social hub to downtown.

The renovations are now progressing at a steady pace after being slowed to bring a building that is centuries old up to modern safety codes.

“We had to dig up all the existing plumbing, and we had to put in a really large grease trap,” owner Wendy Rohan said. “Fixing all that and replacing the floor, it really slowed us down a solid six to seven months.”

While the original estimated opening was in January 2026, Rohan is hoping to have the doors open by the end of the year, if not earlier.

“I am really pushing for late summer or early fallthat’s my goal,” Rohan said. “If we can stay on track and there aren’t any major hiccups and there aren’t any more construction issues to deal with, I’m hopeful that can happen.”

The building that the new location will be in used to be a D&G Office Supply, but it was purchased by the La Grange Economic Development Corporation to lease out and bring new business to downtown.

“The city is really excited that the La Grange EDC is working to bring the type of businesses and amenities that the public has regularly shown interest in,” said Main Street Manager Caleb Parks. “We’re particularly excited to be working with La Grange Brewing Company to bring them to downtown. They’ve got a great and proven track record of making quality food and excellent beverages.”

Not only is La Grange Brewing a brewing company, but it’s also a restaurant, and Rohan is dedicated to serving customers of all appetites and tastes.

“For the 15 plus years we’ve been in business, we’ve always tried to say ‘Yes, we make alcoholic beverages for a living, but it’s more than that’,” Rohan said. “It’s about creating community around those spaces.”

Some of the non-alcoholic beverages available at the current location include drafthoney root beer on tap and sodas, and the new location won’t be any different. A full menu will also be served.

“That’s what neat about a gastropub,” Rohan said. “The drinks and the food are elevated to an equal level, so I’m really excited about the menu.”

In addition to the root beer, Rohan said she’s planning on including another house-made non-alcoholic beverage to the menu, but the details of that are being kept under wraps for the time being.

To account for the second location, La Grange Brewing Company will be cutting back hours slightly at the original location at Blissful Folly Farm, located off FM 2981 about 15 minutes outside of town.

“Our plan is to be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the farm, which means we would be cutting Wednesdays and Thursdays,” Rohan said. “That will enable the staff there to get more production done, because I will be shifting my focus entirely to the new location.”

La Grange Brewing Company is also planning on hiring more staff to cover the added workload of a second location.

“Because we don’t have an exact opening date yet, we haven’t officially posted any openings,” Rohan said. “If anybody is interested and loves food, they should definitely reach out and talk to me. I’m very willing to train people if they don’t have much experience but have a strong work ethic and a passion for that type of thing.”

Rohan said she’s ready to join the group of businesses that serve customers during events on the square such as Oktoberfest and Schmeckenfest.

“Breweries, historically and traditionally, are hubs for people to meet, get together and get to know each other,” Rohan said. “We really hope we can also provide that here. We’ll continue to be involved in all the things, Schmeckenfest and Oktoberfest, that happen on the square.”
